            from TVdawn Added

In 2014, Glasgow University Student Television celebrated 50 years since its inception. However it was also 40 years since my brief spell there. As I still had a collection of the audio tapes and a few stills, I remastered them and put them together into this video clip. (It's version 1.01 as some of the team may contribute their own collection of material.) This edited compilation contains extracts from: - Corries Interview; Greenmantle - Mister Caretaker; Billy Connolly Interview; Dogband; The Goodies Interview This video uses my own photographs, a few from the official Television Service photographer - Parlan MacFarlane, and Malcolm Boddie together with the original 1974 caption and a photocopy of the 1975 caption, animated (with a few of the photographs) using Apple's Motion. It also uses the original recordings of GUST's mentor, John Macpherson, for the between-programme live continuity with music and live radio relay experimentally used in 1974-75. In 1974, GUST used 1-inch Ampex and IVC video recorders. Only a few video extracts have survived. However, I haven't used these as I believe this gives a better impression and representation of what Student TV was like at the time, when we see it today. In any case, outside broadcasts were at the time constrained by available technology and cost to audio recordings and stills photography.

For the title sequence, logos from some of the key destinations were designed, modelled in 3D and finally motion tracked into the footage of Billy as he sped through the landscape on his trike. The maps combined 2D and 3D animation with hand drawn elements highlighting points of interest along the way.
