The ninth of several episodes in which Miriam and I ramble conversationally around a mind map I made recently. The six topics we randomly selected (not all covered in this episode): "mystery", "(Aleister) Crowley", "lunar/solar consciousness", "Rome as self-replicating entity", "number mysticism", "vibrational frequencies". Filmed at the Spring Creek campsite on the Buffalo River in northern Arkansas. Lined with scenic bluffs and surrounded by dense woods it is easy to forget the noise of civilization here. One of my favorite places.

Is there anything as wonderful as waking up to birdsong at dawn in the spring? Here is a chance to experience the UK version of that symphony and get to know the key members of the orchestra, thanks to BBC 4’s ‘Slow Season’, that was launched with this experimental film, ‘Dawn Chorus: The Sounds of Spring‘. Captured by sound artist Chris Watson and the photographers, Simon de Glanville, Robin Smith, Matt Brierley and Gail Jenkinson, the film successfully demonstrates that documentaries can be as engrossing, if not more appealing, without the usual distractions like presenters, narration or music. This video unfortunately is not as vivid as we would like it to be, as a consequence of up-converting from SD footage. However, we hope that the soundtrack would be pleasing enough for you. Our intention in publishing this film here is to promote the appreciation, education and conservation of nature, as well as fresh approaches in wildlife filmmaking.
