      For the past five years, the Savannah Music Festival has presented the Acoustic Music Seminar (AMS), a groundbreaking workshop and mentorship program led by director Mike Marshall (mandolin) and lead clinicians Julian Lage (guitar) and Casey Driessen (violin). Students bring their own compositions to the program, and receive master class instruction from a wide variety of artists. Over the years, AMS instructors have included Zakir Hussain, David Finckel, David Grisman, Abigail Washburn & Bela Fleck, Daniel Hope, Mike Block, Avi Avital, Frank Vignola, Jerry Douglas and Edgar Meyer, among many others. Sixteen promising young string players are selected by audition to participate in the ensemble-focused educational program, which culminates in a finale concert at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts entitled Stringband Spectacular.
