Award winning Australian short film, Two Men, directed by Dominic Allen and shot in the Kimberly town of Fitzroy Crossing by Joel Betts, features a robust and dynamic cast of indigenous Australian non actors. With an original soundtrack by Melbourne artist Felix Riebl, Based on Kafka's short story, Two Men Running, Allen's short film has been screened internationally at film festivals including New York, Prague, London, Melbourne and Sydney and in 2009 was a Dendy Australian Short Film of the Year finalist. The film was instrumental in supporting director Dominic Allen's Emerging Australian Filmmaker Award at the Melbourne International Film Festival and the 2009 Inside Film Rising Talent Award. 2009 MIFF Jury member Deb Verhoeven remarked "Two Men proves that the simplest scenario can provide the perfect premise for conveying the most profound insights. But (Allen's) key achievement is to understand that even the largest ideas are best told with brevity and the most serious with humour." Two Men was made with the support of Yiriman, a community initiated and community driven project supported by the Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre which aims to build stories, strength and resilience in the Kimberley's youth. Two Men is distributed by Flickerfest.

    • Save The Kimberley - Your Help Is Needed

The Kimberley is under threat and we need your help. I have put together a series of still images and video highlighting the beauty of the Kimberley in far North Western Australia. The Kimberley is a true wilderness region and an iconic part of Australia. Unfortunately this region is coming under threat of major industrialization through Gas plant, mining, and offshore drilling operations. The current Western Australian government in it's wisdom is poised to compulsorily acquire tracks of land along this coastline, against the wishes of the traditional owners, to set up a gas hub to feed the worlds requirements for gas. Woodside will spend billions of dollars turning our countries icons into industrial wastelands and threaten the unique ecosystem of the Kimberley. There are alternatives to a gas plant at James Price Point, one being to pipe the gas to Karratha which already has this operation. Once a precedent has been established the floodgates will open and the Kimberley as we know it will be lost forever. Help stop this short sighted project in the name of big corporate profits. Lets keeps these areas untouched by mans pollutants. If you wish to support the campaign to reverse the governments decision to steal this land please sign up to this petition. http://www.getup.org.au/campaign/Homelands&id=1386 View Save the Kimberley Website here. http://www.savethekimberley.com/ Thankyou

I have been on this boat six times now and are two weeks away from trip number 7 and 8. The True North is just a magnificent vessel with an awesome crew which take you to the most amazing locations. I was asked to put together a three minute summary of their adventures on the high seas which is literally impossible considering how much footage I have accumulated in the past six adventures. I have missed out so many highlights in trying to keep within 3 minutes it's not funny. Anyway it's just a teaser to get people interested enough to check out all of their cruise packages. For any of you out there who are sick of looking at boring old churches and museums in over crowded, dirty cities, consider a truly unique experience in places that can only be considered true wilderness. Enjoy...... www.northstarcruises.com.au truenorthmark.wordpress.com Shot entirely on the 5D MK2 with Canon Lenses Music from Soundtrack Pro

My last official trip on the wonderful True North took me to the Rowley Shoals, a small group of coral atolls 160 nautical miles off the coast of Broome Western Australia. The only part of the shoals above water is the pristine Bedwell Island a sand cay which is surrounded by turquoise water with numerous coral clusters to snorkel and dive on. The True North navigates a very narrow channel into the lagoon of the Clerke Reef and it's from there that you spend the trip diving, snorkeling and fishing in the surrounding waters. It is rated as one of the great dive locations anywhere in the world but for those who dont dive like me, the snorkeling is simply amazing and to add a highlight to the trip a series of narrow channels make for a thrilling drift snorkel which propels you through the water at great speed. It is also a great fishing destination with most areas marine sanctuaries but the outer continental shelf provides great opportunities to catch prize fish such as Sailfish, Spanish Mackerel, and Tuna. This job was quite a challenge for me as I'm more suited to land based photography and the week before I was to complete the shoot I slipped on a rock ledge in the Kimberley falling a few meters onto another rock ledge, giving my water housing I was using at the time a nice old crack, and ending up upside down in a rock pool. I was expecting to see my 5D hanging out the end of my housing but fortunately it was fine and a number of water tests (without the camera) gave it the all clear. Anyone who has shot underwater footage from a surface position would appreciate how hard it is to get smooth underwater footage so I hope you can appreciate the shots with a few wobbles in them which I have tried hard to eliminate. Hope you enjoy and if you ever get the opportunity to do any of the wonderful adventures on True North I'm sure you will say as everyone does "that was the best holiday I have ever had" Thanks to owners Mark and Craig, general manager Tremby, and all the crew for making this job one I will never forget.
