I've seen tons of plans for these things. Here's mine! This project can be done for under $100 (if you don't screw it up like I did). The audio is horrid, I know. Don't care though! Below is a list of parts you will need, you can figure out what tools to use. I include some footage at the end, using this dolly. If you have a slow computer, or you don't have the most recent copy of flash installed, panning and side motions (hell, any motion) will look like crap! Viewed this video on a computer other than mine & I couldn't watch it. Too damn jerky! And YES, this is "No Budget" compared to what you would pay for a pro setup. PARTS: (1) 32" square x 3/4" thick piece of plywood (8) Soft inline skate wheels (2) 32" pieces of 1 1/2" angle aluminum (1/8" wall thickness) (8) 1/4" / 20x2" hex bolts (8) 1/4" flat washers (28) 1/4" nuts (16) 1 1/4" fender washers (4) 1/4"x2 1/2" carriage bolts (2) 10' pieces of 1" sch. 40 PVC pipe (1) 5/16" drill bit (1) Medium size drill bit (smaller then your 5/16" bit) (1) Small drill bit (I used a 9/32" bit for my starter holes) More no budget tutorials here: http://www.vimeo.com/album/11663

        • An Undertaking

          from Dark Rye / Added

Michael Yates’ passion for working with wood arose from the wood’s accessibility, its palpable presence and the hope that his efforts would last. But when his grandmother requested that he build her casket, the stability of oak collided with an evocative “conversation” with impermanence, death and the inevitability of absence. In spite of his initial fear and resistance due to our culture’s steadfast avoidance of the D-word, Yates eventually agreed to build the casket and began the real work of constructing a genuine relationship with life, death and sawdust. Since I lost my newest plane that had just come into the sweet spot of performance I decided to build another one. And as part of making lemonade out of lemons I decided to video a few detail of the design of the plane. Many have heard me say I don't have the bandwidth or whatever for a complete build thread but I would like to share the design if it doesn't take forever so this is a very quick and dirty video of the plane while at about 85% complete. I could follow up with some details of the electronics installs later. Some of you have expressed an interest in building a plane like this one to capture smooth HD video. I hope these videos can get you pointed in the right direction at least. The funny background sound in the video is the camcorder focusing so it's a good thing I didn't buy this camera to do videos like this all the time or I'd be disappointed. :)

If only it was this quick! Filmed over several months using mainly Canon cameras, this video uses time lapse, time remapping and real time shots. Not the easiest thing to shoot as most of the time I was standing where it was safe and in no ones way rather than where I'd get the best shot. 95% of the builders were really great and made the job a lot easier Had to pass an official health and safety exam to work on the site so now I have a real qualification.

Hidden among the trees of an Italian forest, Bruno has been building swings, slides, seesaws, gyroscopes and roller-coasters for the last forty years. They are his passion and a way to attract clients to Ai Pioppi, the restaurant he runs with his family.
