During the Cambodian New Year 2014, Chhom Nimol, came up to Portland to perform and celebrate with The Bayon Band. The 'Elvis of Cambodia' crew was there and we were able to spend some time talking with Nimol about Cambodian music, Sinn Sisamouth, influences, etc. 'Elvis of Cambodia: The Sinn Sisamouth Story' is a documentary that examines the power of a legend and his legacy years after his execution at the hands of the Khmer Rouge, during the Cambodian genocide. With the beauty of his golden voice and sincerity of his music he is still able to deeply move many generations of people and connect a dispersed community of Khmers worldwide. We will recall the glorious and vibrant Cambodia of yesteryear and how it is being honoured today by those who are reinvigorating the arts to propel Cambodia to a better future. 'Elvis of Cambodia' needs your help. Please consider contributing to our Kickstarter campaign today: http://kck.st/X4YwaQ

Near Siem Reap, Cambodia on the dirt path in the Jungle leading to Ta Prohm temple, land mine victims were playing traditional Cambodian music. This was my first encounter with land mine victims: some having lost hands or legs, with shrapnel wounds across their body. It was a sobering experience, one i'll never forget. I gave a few dollars to their collection basket. Video shot in late June, 2011 with Cannon Powershot SX20IS
