"But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Sevenly was built upon the idea that “People Matter”. This includes everyone from the people that benefit from the money we raise, to the people that support the charities, to the people that keep Sevenly moving. This is the first film in a new series called, “Sevenly People”. The series will focus on individual team members, who they are and what they do. The first in this series is of Nick Jacobs, the buyer. Nick has a very simple yet profound quality about himself, which is his ability to recognize the possibility in every situation, whether it’s doing laundry at the laundromat or losing a job. That quality coupled with his natural craving for adventure has taken him across the world. If you ever have the opportunity to cross Nick’s path, make sure to treat him to a coffee and ask him to tell you the tale of how he went from shopping for a used washing machine and ended up on a hippie reservation. --- After interviewing Nick, we realized there was a lot of amazing things he said that didn’t make it into the video. So we transcribed some of those excerpts, beginning with his decision to travel the world after leaving his job of 10 years. San Diego, CA is home to an untapped reservoir of creativity. For years, these talented individuals have cultivated and sown their craft into remarkable works of art. The California Republic series intends to prove to the international community that San Diego is artistically fertile and new talent continues to sprout. When pairing Scott Seiver with prose, one must consider the artwork above his bed, entitled, "Wake The Fuck Up." It's clear that every morning Seiver pushes himself to create, regardless of the medium. He chose Robert Frost's "THE ROAD NOT TAKEN" to provide the most accurate portrayal of his life's journey. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim Because it was grassy and wanted wear, Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I marked the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. -Robert Frost+ More details
