Composer and conductor, Carl Davis, and the Philharmonia Orchestra, receiving a standing ovation at the November 30th, 2013 showing, of Kevin Brownlow's restored, Abel Gance's Napoléon. The showing was presented at the Royal Festival Hall, near the Thames Embankment. Napoléon was shown in Oakland, California, at the Paramount Theater, in March 2012. (Similar film done.) The next showing is planned in Amsterdam, in 2014. Here's a fine report on the event and the film by Garen Ewing: garenewing.co.uk/rainboworchid/blog/blog.php?request=permalink&entryid=608 (video by ednapurviance.org)

Henry and Millie host 'Covered', a music show featuring live performances, band interviews, news and a guide to the summer's best music festivals. This project was produced by second year Southampton Solent University students. I operated a camera in the studio, the jib camera in the band performance insert, and camera for the opening titles sequence, which I am particularly proud of.

Let the games begin was composed by composer Wael Binali and performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra in Air Studios, London. A great session to be apart of alongside my good friend and colleague Carl Davis, whose wide skill set ranging from studio direction to camera operation is invaluable when working together. The other camera operator was Torrin Holland, another friend and colleague who is skilled in camera operation and post production to editing and After Effects. Last but not least is Kevan Collins, Director at a new company he has started "Punch Films UK" and the camera op on this piece. My Role: Editing with Carl Davis Camera Op Filmed on: 3 x Panasonic AF101 with VOIGTLANDER Nokton 25mm F/0.95 Lens 1 x Panasonic GH2 with kit 14-42mm lens 1 x Panasonic TM700 Edited on Adobe Premier Pro CS5 Ideally the TM700 would have been replaced with another AF101 but availability of the camera meant we had to roll with the TM700. Since this time another GH2 has been bought along with a few lenses. The small tm700 has a very video look in comparison to these other cameras.

A film about my parents and their family farm-- this was my first film, made while in grad school at San Francisco State University in 1983. I shot the film on16mm Kodak Black and White Reversal Plus X and Tri X film stock using an Arri S, and a wind-up Bell and Howell for the color segment. Sound was recorded with a Nagra 1/4 inch tape recorder, and the film was edited on a Steinbeck flatbed editor, taping together pieces of film, and pieces of sound to create the movie.

Liverpool is my home town. This little sequence was part of a tender to Liverpool Council for a new branding project. I filmed it with a 700 mm Canon lens on a 7D SLR and edited it with the fabulous music; 'Main Theme from Out of Africa' by John Barry, performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Carl Davis. Chris Reece at digital film-makers, Five Lamps Media in Derby, produced the wonderful front end animation. Derek Tarr was an invaluable assistant on location
