Saturn is the most beautiful planet in our Solar System. Famous for its bright yet ethereal rings, the gas giant has over sixty natural satellites in orbit around it – and one artificial satellite: NASA’s Cassini spacecraft, which provides many of the results and images that will be showcased in this talk. We shall explore the weather observed in the atmosphere of Saturn, the curious structures that develop within the rings, and its wide variety of moons – from smog-shrouded Titan, two-sided Iapetus, to busy Prometheus, and the icy plumes erupting from frozen Enceladus. http://www.gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and-events/a-voyage-round-saturn-its-rings-and-moons All our lectures are available for free download from the Gresham College website, in video, audio or text formats: gresham.ac.uk Gresham College professors and guest speakers have been giving free public lectures in central London since 1597. After the break we look at a way to send the ashes of your loved ones to orbit or even the moon, the Cassini Saturn flyby IMAX movie that one man is working on, MESSENGER entering Mercury's orbit and the success of New Space companies thus far. We end with a special surprise showing a bit of the magazine ad we will have published in NewSpace Magazine. Planetary scientist Carolyn Porco - or rather, her Lego doppelgänger - takes you on a fascinating journey with Cassini-Huygens, a space mission investigating Saturn and its intriguing moons. This stop-motion animation is a recreation of Porco's real-life presentation from the 2007 TED conference. (Maia Weinstock, 2010; Behind the scenes: http://maiaw.com/behind_the_scenes.html)

This video was created using over one hundred thousand photos captured during the Cassini-Huygens mission to Saturn. A great deal of time went in to the creation of this short film, and it represents my very best effort at popularizing Space Exploration.
