David wasn't a perfect man, but he was a man "after God's own heart." He was guilty of two major sins: passion and pride. We remember the sin of passion, but we often overlook the sin of pride. Join Dr. Bobby Blanton and Lake Norman Baptist for a message on David's fall from a position of power with judgement from God in "The Census that Turned Sour".

Open Government. What does it mean to have an open government that shares data with the public? What can be learned from analyzing this data? The Office of the Secretary of State of Minnesota explored these topics through a data sharing event called 'Capitol Code: An Open Data Jam.' Recently, MN Secretary of State Mark Ritchie hosted this one-day event for passionate and engaged citizens, giving them an opportunity to explore and drive solutions using public data collected from all over Minnesota. Participants were called on to apply existing technologies or build new applications using public data. Capitol Code events use public data sets that relate to voting and elections, such as polling place data and election results, as well as information from the office’s Business Services Division. This webinar archive is from August 7, 2012 presented by Linda Clark. The goal of this webinar is to demystify the process of accessing Census Bureau data by imparting the LOGIC of the data access tool, American FactFinder (AFF). After this 1-hour series of exercises demonstrating the functionality and various features of the AFF (along with step-by-step instructions provided on the handout), library professionals should be able to simply “plug in” their choices of topic and geography to answer the real world questions posed by their users. This webinar will be of interest to public libraries, medical libraries, law libraries, school and university libraries, reference desk staff, and all others engaged in providing customer service to people needing Census data. This material is taken from an Infopeople webinar.
