SHASTA LAKE – It was an emotional night here Sept. 4 as Central Valley High School paid tribute to U.S. Army Spc. Tyler Vietti, the three sport athlete and 2006 CVHS graduate who died Aug. 31 in Afghanistan. “The emotion was extremely high,” Central Valley’s varsity head coach Matt Hunsaker said of Friday’s pre-game ceremony. “It was a great tribute to a fallen soldier.” That high emotional level transferred to the playing field as the Falcons scored five touchdowns in the first quarter on way to defeating the Trinity Wolves 55-12 in their opening game of the season.
