I put this video together to go with my article "The Three Basics of Photography", which covers the same ground in more depth: http://www.lightandmatter.org/?p=3809 I wanted to make a video to cover the basics pretty quickly, so that if nothing else, the articles would be easier to understand afterwards. Plus, this thing has a cool soundtrack.+ More details

“Vote For Hope” was written to encourage and inspire the hip hop generation—and everyone—to get involved, and contribute their time, energy, creativity, and other resources to be the change they want to see in the world. We have been inspired by the artistic and musical contributions that have been pouring out across the nation in support of Barack Obama's historic campaign. Vote for Hope is our offering to this creative movement. It is our way of adding our small voice to the collective voice of millions of Americans calling for a change. Make sure to Vote on November 4th! Here is where you can register: VoteforChange.com "Vote for Hope" was written by M.C. Yogi and produced by Robin Livingston. The "Vote for Hope" video was created at Ursa Minor Arts and Media in San Rafael, CA with chief animator James Curtis, using designs and direction from MC Yogi. Video funded and supported by grassroots donations. For other music by MC Yogi, check out http://mcyogi.com+ More details

The film’s visuals are an animated collage combining live action footage, animated elements, illustrations and treated photographs, including photos taken by the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity made available to the public domain by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Plan of the City was created in collaboration with composer Judd Greenstein and NOW Ensemble, an acclaimed "indie classical" chamber ensemble; the ensemble, including Greenstein, feature prominently in the film as live actors set inside the animated framework. The audio of the film consists solely of Greenstein's Change, performed by NOW Ensemble; Change and Plan of the City were created in parallel, each expressing its own artistic intention while simultaneously serving its "sibling". The film was presented with the music performed live, timed to the film, at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City in May, 2011. It also exists as its own stand-alone entity, utilizing NOW Ensemble's recent studio recording of Change(out on New Amsterdam Records). (This is an independent project aiming to make people realize that to make a change, we must first believe that it’s possible. The world belongs to all of us and needs our optimism so that our will to change becomes a real change, and we believe this is only possible when starting from within. By changing our way of thinking, we change our way of acting and by acting we change the world. There is still time.) ____________________________________________________ CREDITS Concepting and Script: Gabriel T Garcia Felipe Sampaio Luis Paulo Gatti Rainor Marinho Director: Cleber Leal de Almeida (Colisão Filmes - www.colisaofilmes.com/) Producer: Helena Canhoto (Colisão Filmes - www.colisaofilmes.com/) Photography: Alexandre Genga (www.alexandregenga.com/) Music: Explosions In The Sky - Postcard From 1952 Translation: Matthew Scheffler+ More details
