In this video you can easily understand our mission/vision and accomplishments, and mainly how we contribute to the Aruban community since 2011 through educational documentaries. Switch Foundation is based in Aruba. Script: How the community is making the 'Switch' happen! Our mission: Our mission is to make ‘Switch’ documentaries accessible to the whole community, and create awareness, offer information and guidance on current social issues, and how together through ‘education’ we can prevent and reform them. Who are we? ‘Switch’ is a multimedia foundation that stands for the development and advancement of the Aruban community. Since 2011 we contribute by producing ‘educational documentaries’ about how family issues can have an impact on the whole country. Why? Statistics on the island began to show, a rise in the number of social issues related to teen pregnancy, addiction, youth delinquency, unmanaged sexuality, poverty, abuse, bullying and more and how these not only bring worry to the safety net of the community, but a large, financial expense to the country. When society undergoes decay, in productive and developed citizens, economic development also slows down, and the consequences affect us all. Audio-visual strategy! We capture the community’s attention with creativity in various forms. Image is the center point of our documentaries to make them visually attractive, in order to draw attention to the topics we discuss. We combine the research, with dramatizations of testimonials, poetry, photography, animated graphics and theatrical acts. How are we making the 'Switch' happen? We have built a loyal and committed relationship with members of the community and organizations. With their support ,we’re establishing a movement,, that strongly understands, the importance of addressing these issues, which are challenging the well-being of our society. SWITCH SUPPORTERS! A. We are a spokesperson for the social organizations: : We gather the research thanks to the support of NGO’s. We are an independent platform that holds a good relationship with social organizations, and connects the community to them so they know, where to go for information or help. B. 'Switch' is highly demanded by the school system! Educators believe, and demand our work, because Audio-Visuals engage students quicker and more effectively! ‘Switch’ is based on facts and at the same time entertaining, in return it creates awareness, and educates the youngsters. C. The youth is our ambassador! We believe in the power of the youth since they can accomplish so much if they are given the tools and ability to prove themselves. We have involved hundreds in the making, and this generates an interest for topics, they usually wouldn’t be interested in. They’re challenged, since they’re aware the community will see them and this motivates them, to share their experience, and raise the interest, of other youngsters. D. Art: a powerful tool to educate! Art is a very powerful tool to reform our society. We find unique methods to present the information and together with the department of culture we invite local artists, as well as members of the community, to create and portray social issues through mini theatrical acts, poetry and photography. E. We produce local facts! We present information that our community can relate with. A large demand grew, for our ‘audio-visual research’ by students and social workers, to be used in their presentations and therapies, since it’s backed up with local information that our people can better relate to. Vision: Our vision is through education, accomplish a positive “switch” of mentality, in our community, to diminish prejudice and stimulate tolerance because education is the most powerful tool for prevention and reform.
