Media has the power to influence and change behaviours of an individual, community or a nation. It is largely observed that visual content specifically on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights is not created. Moreover, the main stream media in Pakistan hardly produces any content on the same. This can be attributed to social, culture and religious aspects of the society. Another reason is that, the universities offering media studies at bachelors or masters level do not require students to produce such content. Limited awareness of SRHR issues among the young media students creates a vacuum effect in terms of exploring other social issues. The pilot intervention would sensitize the students on SRHR through workshop and provide technical support (consultant) on developing human interest visual documentation of SRHR issues. This innovative fund aims to sensitize future media professionals (final year students) on SRHR and how to effectively communicate SRHR relevant issues to the masses through short documentaries and films. The pilot project will be implemented in two leading Media Universities of Islamabad, aiming to sensitize 40 to 50 students through workshops conducted by SRHR experts and likeminded media professionals. In both the workshops, the students will be insentivized to take part in a documentary/film competition. In order to facilitate the young film makers regular counseling sessions will be held. At least one session per group or individual will be organized with a notable media professional or an SRHR expert to further refine their concepts and films/documentaries.
