April 2014, 19.00 Uhr, FS1 Studio im KunstQuartier (Bergstr. 12, Salzburg) Deaf from birth, Christine Sun Kim has established her own “voice” through experimentation on sound art such as score and transcript drawings, which raise questions on linguistic authority, ownership of sound, and oral languages as social currency. Those visuals and codes on paper are the result of her action of combining information systems and languages that are known to her and letting grammar rub against each other. Sun Kim has came upon more similarities than differences between music and American Sign Language, which will be discussed during her talk. Christine Sun Kim Christine Sun Kim, who was born in California, holds an MFA in Sound/ Music from Bard College and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts.
