Ever since the death of his wife Sarah, Les Olinger's life has gone downhill. Les's wife was no ordinary woman. Behind her husband's back, she has been working with some of the top scientists and engineers of the U.S. government, developing a machine that can send letters back in time. She left this machine with her husband before she died. Les is juggling multiple jobs, and is completely alone. He has been planning suicide for a while, and when he finally gets ready to do it, something unexpected happens. He hears faint mechanical noises coming from his basement, and out of his own curiosity, he decides to check it out. He discovers the machine Sarah left, disguised as an ordinary fax machine. Les discovers that the fax machine can actually send messages back in time, but how is this possible? Les realizes that he can use this machine to communicate with his wife, before she died. Because of that, Les begins to fill himself with false hope. However, if the government finds out about Les's use of the machine, it just might be the end of Les, and the mysterious Time Fax. http://benhughesstudios.com http://facebook.com/BenHughesStudios http://youtube.com/BenHughesStudios http://twitter.com/BHughesStudios [CREW] -Director, Producer, Screenwriter, Editor, Cinematographer: Ben Hughes -Screenwriter - Nick Harrison-Strot [CAST] -Antonio "Dos" Edwards -Miles Brice -Nick Harrison-Strot (not in selected 3 minutes) -Bryan "Salv" Hernandez (not in selected 3 minutes) Music by Michael Donner http://michael-donner-soundpacks.de Featuring: "Wonder ft. STORY PITCH There was no time to react when the world fell apart. Locked in a bathroom amidst the ravaging plague, one man prays for salvation from the demons pounding at the door. His makeshift supplies are running out, his wounds sear with relentless pain and insanity is slowly creeping into his mind. Memories of the love he left behind haunt his thoughts and all hope disappears. He struggles with what will certainly be his last decision: to take his own life, or wait for the Blackout. The story, is inspired by two very different literary works; the first being “Zombie Haiku” by Ryan Mecum, a first person depiction of the daily life of a zombie dictated through Haiku poetry. The second inspiration was Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's “Faust.” A tragic two part play, in which a wager is made between God and the Devil, that he may tempt God's favourite human. Submission to Cinema Out of Your Backpack Produced by http://dkmotion.com Story Pitch Visualife: Claudia is a young and ambitious musician. With her son Moritz, she is living in Graz, Austria. Her passion is music, it is helping her to deal with life ... The clip consists of a short interview sequence and some performance shots. The whole idea of the feature production "Visualife" is kind of a mix between a music video and a documentary. 7 different musicians from 7 different cities are featured in the production. In a similar way to the example above, the musicians get interviewed in their "natural" surroundings, in the environments they are living and making their music. Then they will perform in front of the camera. The style of the clip, colors, camera movements, effects etc. always fit the style of the music itself. Via those images a story is told, without explaining every detail. A scene from a larger narrative of a man who loses his mind when he is unable to take his pills after an elevator mishap traps him inside with two other men. The main story revolves around how people are unable to communicate without their technology, and how they quickly degenerate. This scene is one of the many vignettes describing such a scenario. Apologies for the audio. I have not used this mic with a DSLR before, and unfortunately it peaks throughout the scene. I tried scrubbing it through soundtrack, but could only do so much. Credits The Crazy Man - Paul Schendel Beanie Cap - Jack Stewart The Yuppie - C. Vincent Townsend III Based on an idea by Caitlin Baker Written for the Screen, Edited, Shot, and Directed by Gabriel Chavez Special thanks to all of those nice people who stopped to ask if we were ok when they heard screaming in the elevator. Submission to Cinema Out Of Your Backpack www.cinemaoutofyourbackpack.com Story Pitch The feature-film idea "Once Upon A Time In The City" is about prejudices a lot of people have to deal with today. Here shown on a case in the drug milieu. The small fish drug dealer Jimi lost all his money and unfortunately his memory of the time when the money dissapeared. But he is sure that he got ripped off. And he is sure by whom, suspecting Mushtaq, the big bad Arab who is a drug dealer too and who wants to outdo every competitor. Are Jimis suspicions true or is nothing like it seems? In this special scene Jimi has to tell his boss Fathi what has happened. It's a very important scene for Jimi because it's the last scene before his adventure of finding the truth, and in a deeper way the truth about himself, really begins. With the metaphor of eating hot food he gets prepared by Fathi for the hard way that lays in front of him and after that food scene, at the end of the entire scene, he gets a deadline from Fathi so that there's no escaping anymore. For the viewer it's such an important scene because they get a summarized view of what has happened so far and what it's all about. Unfortunately 3:59 is not enough time to show the entire scene. But it's still fun so... enjoy!
