    • Curb Ramps as Decorative Accents???

Jackson repaved Hanging Moss Road as part of the 2009 Street Resurfacing Project, which triggers the need for ADA upgrades to adjoining sidewalks. The city put in just a few curb ramps (4 out of 11 intersections). Plus, it left the sidewalks inaccessible to- and unusable by people with disabilities. When will we attend to the safety of ALL a street's users, not just motorists?

            from Morrison Hershfield Added

Due to operational issues at the intersection of Fernbank Road and Shea Road, located in Ottawa’s west urban community, a preferred solution to realign the two intersections into a single lane roundabout was designed by Morrison Hershfield. Morrison Hershfield’s role during the course of this project development included both preliminary and detailed roadway designs, preparation of contract documents and Contract Administration and Inspection services during construction. A ‘Complete Street’ approach during the design process included the introduction of pedestrian crossings, to accommodate future needs as this community develops. Multi-use pathways and paved shoulders were designed to accommodate cyclists on both Fernbank Road and Shea Road, as they are currently identified as primary cycling networks according to the Ottawa Cycling Plan.
