This video is my team's entry for, and winner of the 2012 Cornerstone University 36 Hour digital video challenge held this January. We competed against four other teams from the university and had 36 hours to script, storyboard, shoot, and edit the piece together. The challenge started at 9pm Thursday night and ended on Saturday morning at 9am. The theme for this competition was based off the passage John 3:19-21. We had to also include a prop (a coffee mug) and a character trait (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) within our video entry. As winners of this 36 hour challenge our team will be competing at the annual NRB (National Religious Broadcasters) conference this February in their 36 hour digital video competition. Within many forms of faith and religious practices, there comes a paradigm that is often difficult for all members involved to wrestle with; the concept of the regular, or normal, versus the unique, the sacred. The underlying idea being that in places of worship a touch of the divine exists, or rather such a place should evoke the feeling of the divine within ourselves. Truly, anyone can go out their door and sense such a presence or reflection, but in places of holiness our eyes should be enraptured by this. This is what Danish, impressionist artist, Peter Brandes has set out to capture in his commissioning of creating four key stain glass windows for the new Cornerstone University chapel. The awakening of listening to Brandes passion, ideas, and message for his work is rivaled only by watching the artist himself create. Taking four simple drawings he has spent weeks meticulously pouring over and redefining, Brandes is working to bring to life the story of the Divine through the sacred.
