The Kimbrough Brothers (David on guitar and vocal, Robert on bass, and Kinney -also called Kent- on drums) are joined onstage by members of Mojo Possum at the 4th annual North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic on June 27, 2009. David, Robert, and Kinney are sons of Junior Kimbrough who operated a juke joint in Chulahoma, Mississippi and recorded for the Fat Possum label. This song, Lord Have Mercy on Me was the middle part of a medley of Junior Kimbrough songs that began with God Knows I Tried and ended with All Night Long. David Kimbrough is a prolific songwriter himself and is sometimes referred to as Junior Kimbrough, Jr. Kinney Kimbrough played drums on many of his father's recordings and also plays and records with Afrissippi, featuring Guelel Kumba. Mojo Possum from Memphis features Keith Cooper and Bill Mard on guitars and Tim Stanek on keyboards. The North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic was founded by Kenny Brown, who played guitar with R. L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. The two-day annual festival takes place in a remote 1,000 acre field bordered by a creek. It features musicians from the hill country of north Mississippi and other musicians who have been influenced by the unique, hypnotic style of the hill country.
