John’s of 12th Street is a portrait of a century-old Italian-American restaurant in New York City, one of the last of its kind in a rapidly changing East Village. This observational documentary loosely follows the rhythm of the restaurant’s day, which swings between boredom and frenzy as the old rooms empty and fill. No one who works at John’s is actually Italian, but some have been here for 40 years, including two pairs of brothers and a father and son. John’s of 12th Street catalogues the overlooked details of working life and a vanishing facet of New York City.

James Kalm, despite some stinging comments published in a critique of the exhibition "Crossing Brooklyn," and the initial disappearance of his name from the guest list, is inadvertently admitted to the Museum's Brooklyn Artists Ball. While celebrity artists schmoozed with deep-pocket donors in the main foyer, your correspondent slinked upstairs to an empty gallery, and records video of "Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks". Jean-Michel Basquiat uniquely captured the spirit of his time in the 1980s East Village. Featuring 160 pages of rarely seen documents, and related works on paper and large-scale paintings, this display presents the artists poetic side, while also exposing his deep interest in language games, lists, ontological design and daily ephemera.

WHY: The Junkluggers of NYC researched different types of marketing options (TV commercials, billboards, MTA signs) to breakthrough in a very cluttered New York City market. After some deliberation, The Junkluggers teamed up with Carmine Arpaia (2 Time Emmy Winner) & Kinetic Studios (Film & Video Production Company) to create an unusually fun marketing tool. We hope our viewers enjoy our first episode (of a six episode mini-series) and can relate to the most popular show in 2005. DISCLAIMER: The following episode is a parody of MTV Cribs. The people portrayed in the parody are purposely acting. All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, is purely coincidental. WHO WE ARE: At The Junkluggers, it is our mission to save the Earth, one piece of junk at a time. By 2020, we aim to donate and recycle 100% of all items we remove from residential and commercial jobs, setting the standard in the United States for eco-friendly disposal practices. We are working towards this goal every day, searching for new charities to donate to and more environmentally friendly ways to dispose of materials we lug away that can be neither donated nor recycled. In 2014, The Junkluggers of NYC donated over 1,200 times on behalf of our customers.
