In 2011 I spent 120+ days on the road. Visited numerous countries. Met lots and lots of awesome people. And I didn't send one single postcard. That's why I decided to summarize the coolest places in one single video greeting. A huge thanks to all the companies and newfound compadres that made 2011 a fantastic year. Hope to see you all in 2012! Follow me on Twitter; twitter.com/pictionaryprod Facebook; facebook.com/pictionaryproductions

This is a short piece I've done with some shots of people and places I met in Egypt while I was shooting a tourism programme for a flight company in December 2009. I shot it all using a Canon 5d Mark II and a Glidetrack HD. Edited in FCP and graded with After Effects. The main theme is "Ah Men El-Fora2" by Amr Diab, covered by a super talented egyptian musician called MARWAN ANWER. The intro is extracted from a song called "Beirut Goes to Cuba".

Read the profile: http://to.pbs.org/fudCZe Photographer John Moore is no stranger to combat. As a member of an Associated Press team in 2005, he shared a Pulitzer Prize for breaking news photography for coverage of the war in Iraq and he's done extended stints in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, South Africa, Mexico and Nicaragua and elsewhere in the last 20 years. Yet despite his relative comfort with being on the frontlines, Moore told the NewsHour from his hotel room in Cairo that his latest assignment -a six-week trip that took him to the uprisings in Egypt, Bahrain and Libya - might have been his most dangerous. Moore recorded the interview for us after sneaking out of Benghazi, Libya en route back to his home in Denver.

Desert Breath Desert Breath is a collaborative site specific project created by D.A.ST. arteam, (Danae Stratou, Alexandra Stratou, Stella Constantinides). It is an Earth Work that covers 100.000 m2, in the eastern Sahara desert bordering the Red Sea in Egypt. Its construction consists of the displacement of 8.000 m3 of sand formed so as to create precise positive and negative conical volumes. The conical volumes form two interlocking spirals that move out from a common centre with a phase difference of 180 degrees in the same direction of rotation. The centre is a 30-metre diameter vessel formed in a W-shaped section and filled with water to its rim. The construction of Desert Breath began in June 1995 and was completed in March 1997. The project is rooted in our common desire to work in the desert. In our mind’s eye the desert was a place where one experiences infinity. We were addressing the desert as a state of mind, a landscape of the mind. The point of departure was the conical form, the natural formation of the sand as a material. It is a site-specific work that grows out of our perception of the site its self. Located between the sea and a body of mountains at the point where the immensity of the sea meets the immensity of the desert. The work functions on two different levels in terms of view point: from above as a visual image; from the ground a physical experience while walking the spiral pathway. Desert Breath still exists becoming through its slow disintegration, an instrument to measure the passage of time.
