I love the way Kevin Lovejoy plays the piano. I like to think of him as playing the piano, harpsichord, and percussion all with the same instrument. This was filmed at the Elephant Room using a Canon 5D Mark II camera with 135mm f/2 lens. Lighting over the piano, unfortunately, is terrible, lit mostly by a yellow spotlight, with a total brightness of about 2 EV. This is all handheld, with manual focus adjustments occuring during most of the clip. I used no device to steady the camera, relying only on my hands. I recorded this clip to see how steady I could hold the camera. I can usually handhold a camera fairly steadily for a still shot, but when manual focus during the clip is required, all bets are off.

Is it possible to pan with a very cheap tripod? I try it out with the tripod I bought in high school for about $30 or so. One of the feet is now in the Pacific Ocean. Better than handholding, but a good tripod would be better. You're watching the Monster Big Band performing at Ruta Maya, a coffee house in South Austin. Microphone is the camera built-in mic. Room noises include typical coffee house noises (latte machines, etc.)

This footage has been uploaded straight from the camera. Shot with Canon 50mm 1.8, wide open. This is the Elephant Room in Austin, Texas. On Monday nights they have "Jam Night", where some of the best musicians from around town come and play. Very informal, lots of improvisation. What else would you expect from a great jazz club right?

Nov 2, 3, 7–10, 2013 In this uproarious love letter to the world of magic, three deluded illusionists are living their off-center lives by sleight of hand. How long can that last? These three world-class tricksters—stage names Louie Magic, Dennis Diamond, and Daryl Hannah—perform magic that functions and fools just fine, until the tricksters begin to fall apart. The more they posture and hide behind their smoke and mirrors, the more they reveal their vulnerability, and the harder we laugh. The off-the-wall comedy takes place on a set every bit as outrageous and surreal as the show requires (and really too wonderfully bizarre to be adequately explained here).
