Sam Stewart and Andrea Pawel went out to Southern Tanzania, to shoot a conservation education film on the importance of living alongside elephants. This film targets local children living in villages bordering Ruaha National Park. Many of these children have never had the privilege of seeing an elephant in real life or on TV and have no idea what elephants look like, their size or how they act. Ruaha National Park is not fenced, the animals are free to roam as they please. In the dry season when water and food becomes scarce elephants tend to come into the villages at night and crop raid some of the farms. This has created tension amongst some villagers and the wildlife. The relationship between humans and elephants must not be considered a conflict but an interaction. Humans are part of the ecosystem and need to learn to live with these beautiful creatures, they belong in this world just as much as we do. Enjoy!
