3rd try on this. This is a pretty basic performance or meditative action in which I try to purge all these unwanted feelings resulting from recent lifestyle changes (omg single yay). Hurting yourself is a form of discipline and also aids cathartic release. I was hoping to speed up grief period by physically stimulating pain so that I won't have any more tears to shed about this...but also I wanted to be in a place where I can laugh and cry at the same time... ANYWAY. ON TO THE NEXT ONE. * this is also a useful exercise when you're just generally shitty. Try having someone do it for you! Above depicts super genuine sadness and -13 pounds 2 week after break. Everything will be okay as long as I'm getting thinner.

Grease, 4:16 Taylor Doyle A well-greased machine works to produce infinite perfections and is anticipated to perform in a certain way every time it is used. The manner and frequency of its use is also always at the discretion or desire of another. This video is about relentless exertion. The tautness between voluntary self-improvement effort, and effort imposed by other forces besides the self. Our determination to be suitable sexual mates for others, as fit, clean, and attractive individuals is an eternal labour. Heterosexual roles assumedly drum down hard with the constant mechanical squeaking of the treadmill, eventually reminiscent of bed springs. The runner runs until they can no longer perform. They begin sweating what appears as bodily fluids, insinuating the performance of sexual acts, until the substances take over and their body is at maximum exertion.

The first collaboration between tattooist and illustrator Loren Fetterman and performance artist Stefanie Elrick. Merging tattooing, body art, poetry, calligraphy and photography in a dynamic new piece of work. Over 4months the writing of a group of strangers was collected by these artists and transformed into one multi-voiced master poem. This was then turned into all over body design and blood-lined, in delicate calligraphy, over one woman's body in 6hrs. from John Bonafede Added 1,121 10 3

In this installment of the Polymorph series, Bonafede enters the Mudman race, designed by military special forces, held in New Jersey in 2012. Unlike others in this Polymorph series, the Mud Man involves many obstacles for the artist to overcome, mostly involving a negotiation of the body around dirt and water. Through the traversing of the course the performer's body metaphorically transforms into the textures surrounding the race. As the performance goes on, Bonafede gets covered more and more in mud and the metamorphosis is complete.

                    from John Bonafede Added 128 1 0

First installment of kinetic, endurance performance art series wherein Bonafede borrows the nomenclature of the triathlon sports world to name the sculptural mediums his body metaphorically morphs into. In this work-in-progress video we start to see what 1.5M swim, 56M bike and a 13.1M run can do to the body as it is set in the scenic Lake San Antonio State Park, Monteray CA. Wildflowers abound, Bonafede races for TEAM in Training, Leukemia Lymphoma Society, to raise $ for blood cancers. Recognizing that the transitions in a triathlon are nothing compared to the changes a cancer patient must undergo, he nonetheless endeavors to explore the blurry line between his own body and various elements he moves in.
