60 million years ago in the sweltering heat of a climate 6 to 8 degrees warmer than today lived a monstrous snake called Titanoboa. It was only at these warmer temperatures which are at the upper end of climate change predictions that the cold blooded beast was able to reach these sizes. Today, as fossilized life is exhumed and burned relentlessly to fuel modern progress, primordial spirits have been stirring. This fossil beast has been brought back to life as a provocative omen on the eve of catastrophe. The Titanoboa project seeks to reincarnate this 50 foot, 1 ton beast as an amphibious, electromechanical serpent machine meant to provoke discussions of our changing climate and energy use in a historical context. This giant electromechanical reincarnation will roam the earth terrifying and enlightening those who dare to ride the snake along the razor’s edge between hope and fear and contemplate the future of our planet. This was a magical experience. I spent time in Egypt for rest and recovery from a very surreal experience I was having at home. I am sure many can relate. You don't know what you are in until you get OUT. It was extreme and did not realize just how much so until I left. And the beauty of it was how Life rolled out the Red Carpet in synchronicities leading me to the water for Peace. Very necessary indeed. Now is the time. I am grateful. I am honoured. I am appreciating the highs and lows, the ebbing and flowing of the wonderment of just how magnificent life truly is. Diving to the depths of despair and rising to the heights of ecstasy within your Heart and Mind at the speed of light. Wow! What a ride eh? You are never alone and know this ... Always do what is best for the good of the whole in Heart with good intent. That, I feel, is what life picks up and will carry you through any pain or suffering. No matter what. Leave the baggage, leave the trash in mind and make way for New Beginnings to happen. For that is all we are ... "Thoughts happening". Think Good, Think Clear, Think Calm, Think Peace, Think Coherency, Think Silence, Think Nothing. Go with the flow of KNOW. Know when to say yes, and know when to say no. To a mind that is Still, the Universe Surrenders. Much more to this I wish to share with Another View of Life in a living document, in a book forthcoming called "OceanHeart" http://www.flywithmeproductions.com As I have fallen, so have I picked myself up. Even when I did not want to, nor had the strength to. We are so not alone. "Life is precise and I am patient."

Our electrical grid was cobbled together without a grand plan in mind. As a result, we continue to use outdated technology and inefficient infrastructure to power our lives. We speak with Maggie Koerth-Baker, science editor from www.boingboing.net, as she discusses these ideas and more from her new book, Before the Lights Go Out: Conquering the Energy Crisis Before It Conquers Us

From the Digifest 2011 Innovation Days. October 26-27 at the Berkeley Church in Toronto, Canada. "When we think about architecture, we think about the physical structures around us but there’s a whole other architecture we don’t see: soft architecture. Soft architecture is the energy, air quality, and light that we don’t measure or even know very much about. In fact, most of us probably know more about our car’s fuel consumption than the quality of the air that we breathe in buildings. This talk will explore how soft architecture makes the hidden world visible and how it can be used to change behaviour."
