For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. -Philippians 1:21-24

In Ephesians 1:14, the Apostle Paul underscores the Christian's assurance of his eternal inheritance by showing that the seal of the Holy Spirit, which marks God's people as His special possession, is also their "guarantee" of inheritance. This "guarantee" is the the first installment, identifying His people as those selected for adoption. As His legal sons (through Christ's work of redemption), they are "guaranteed" the inheritance.

Paul uses the ancient practice of applying a “seal” to describe God’s ownership and preservation of His people. The various biblical references to “sealing" show many positive aspects that describe the wondrous work of the Spirit in the lives of the elect. God has “stamped" us with His Holy Spirit and we bear His image in redemption.

In Ephesians 1:11, the Apostle Paul assures his readers of their inheritance in Christ because they were predestined for this inheritance by the God who works all things according to the counsel of His will. In the following verse he explains that, although they are hoping in Christ for an inheritance that they do not yet fully possess, they may be assured that they were predestined for this inheritance because they have heard the word of truth, the Gospel of their salvation, and believed in Christ. Their hope is not wishful thinking but a confident expectation based on the promise and character of the Almighty God.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen takes us into the nineteenth week of the Fall 2015 teaching series "Right With God" as he looks at Romans 12:9-21. Pastor Chad will show us that when we come to Jesus we are given new life in Christ. He'll also show us that the Lord grows in us and works through us by helping us to realize a new way to love. The love of Christ transforms our natural and human love into a supernatural love ... a radical love.

Ephesians 1:11 has been called "the strongest and most comprehensive statement about God's absolute sovereignty in the whole of the Bible." A close look at the words Paul uses affirms this position. He leaves no room for exceptions. In the context of the opening doxology of Ephesians, this is intended to be a great comfort to the people of God.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen turns the corner in the Summer 2015 teaching series "Right With God" as he looks at Romans 12:3-8. This week's message marks a turning point in the book as a change of tone takes place in Paul's letter to the Romans. Continuing the tone change from theology to application, these verses instruct us to act upon the grace God has given us, and humbly use the gifts He's given us to the fullest of the capacity to which He's given them. When a believer is transformed by Jesus they become a vitalized member of the body of Christ and will think soberly, pursue community and use their gifts. In contrast, if they are still conformed to the world they become numb like a part of the body that has fallen asleep. They then are found to be self-centered, individualistic and have no interest in identifying or using their gifts.
