Mixing Toronto is a multi-media, site-specific collaborative project that celebrates the diversity of our communities by evoking social, political, cultural and urban issues which speak to the various identities in Toronto. Juxtaposing facades and streetscapes will be animated by their natural activity and represent a range of neighbourhoods and times of day. Individually they will shine a light on the character of Toronto’s neighbourhoods and, set in contrast with each other, they will highlight the multiplicity, diversity and variations that can be found in the city. Mixing Toronto was featured in Nuit Blanche 2014 as an official Independent Project.

For this film, I had to create a film that showed both diagetic sounds and nondiagetic sounds. Diagetic sounds are sounds that occur with something that the audience can see in the film, for example if a character sneezes, the added sneeze noise would be a diagetic sound. Nondiagetic sounds are sounds in film that originate from something that is not seen in the film. This lets the audience infer that something is there even if it isn't actually there because they can't see it, only hear it. This is why I chose a train station so I could add the noise of a train horn to make the audience think that there is a train coming even if there is no train. The first half is the video without any added sound or music what so ever and the second half is the same exact video with added sound effects and ambiance. See how is changes the tone or how you view it! Also thank you so much to Sara Cespedes for being my amazing spy actress! She did a wonderful job haha it wouldn't be the same film if I used someone else.
