This is the first film project that I ever did at Emerson College. The requirements were just to experiment with the 16mm Bolex camera and become more comfortable with it - film a short film that just captures natural things in real time that you don't manipulate in any way, and we were not allowed to do any editing after the film was processed. My friend Lea and I partnered up and film and edited equal parts of this project - 50/50. Upon presenting this to the class via a16mm projector, and not having watched it beforehand - we discovered that we had accidentally filmed with a really high frame rate (64fps), which then made the film play back in slow motion. This also explains why the camera stays on one thing for much longer than would be preferred. We also somehow managed to still get an image as opposed to it being horribly overexposed or underexposed. It was basically a happy accident because we ended up really liking the way that it turned out even though there are clearly many things that could be improved. It was a great learning experience!
