This is a video of the footage we took last night of a fire that destroyed two of our neighbours homes here in Erin Woods. When we were talking to CTV news it looks like the fire started just after 11:00pm last night. I had just finished getting Rhys down after he had woke up and I went downstairs to the studio to work on some stuff in the studio with my wife Jen. That was about 11:20pm and there was nothing happening outside that I could see. Literally 10-15mins later Jen was going up stairs to get something and she said “Jeremy did you see the fire outside?” I walked out into the main studio area in the basement and I could clearly see the glowing red through the blinds. It was so bright I though our front lawn was on fire. The flames were so intense that I could feel the heat through our front door. All of our neighbours are safe and so is our family. The fire fighters were so quick to contain the blaze that by the time the CTV news crew arrived the fire was mostly out. We chatted with the news team and offered up the video and photos we captured so check out their broadcasts as you might see some of the video we took. If we are featured in the news we will update the blog with the links and once it is day time out we will go out and take a photo of the house’s so you can really see the extent of the damage. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family that lost their homes last night. We've been burning up at Grosvenor this week, as everyone got a visit from the fire brigade, with one of their big red engines! We had a great time exploring the truck and spraying the hose around the garden! We've also got a surprise bag for the babies, some ice cubes for the pre-school and toddlers enjoy some marshmallows around a campfire.

          • Marblehead Firemen's Muster Coming Soon

An antique hand pumped fire engine muster where crews pump their machines to see who can shoot the longest stream of water. This is the oldest organized sport in the United States. Marblehead has two teams, one in each class competing. They are the Okos VFA and the Gerry No. 5 V.F.A., Inc.. Spectators are invited to try out pumping the machines, especially Marbleheaders and the descendants of Ex-Patriated Marbleheaders! For more information on the sport and the machines visit: http://www.handtubs.com/ The first firemen’s muster was held on July 4th, 1849 in Bath, Maine. It was a competition among crews with hand pumped fire engines to see who could shoot the longest stream of water. The tradition has been kept alive into the 21st century; every year on a Saturday close to July 4th, another muster is held in Bath. On November 20th, 1890, the New England States Veteran Firemen’s League was founded in Boston. Musters were held all over New England, often attracting 50 or 60 entrants. There are two classes of machine: A and B. The class is determined by the size of the cylinders. Each machine is allowed 15 minutes on the pumping platform to shoot as many streams as their crew can manage. A suction hose goes into the water tank, which is kept full from a hydrant or a tanker truck. The foreman stands on top and keeps an eye on optimal wind conditions. The pipe crew handles the nozzle and aims the powerful spray down the line of red resin paper that is the playing field. The judges measure the farthest flung dime sized drop of water to determine who wins each class. At the end of the day, the foremen of the winning machines are ceremoniously dunked in the water tank.

We thought one of our servers had blown up or something... The smell was horrible. But when we saw the greenish, yellow smoke flowing by our windows, we knew it wasn't us. I grabbed my cell and rushed down to take some shots of the fire. old habits die hard. Reminded me of my junior cameraman days at CBC Vancouver and Winnipeg. No one was hurt (as of this post). The fire is still happening which is why everyone has left the office and congregated at the local pub (Else's... Great place). I can't leave because my car was taped up in security tape by police, so I'm 'stuck' here.
