      FLORA is a visual art work that focuses on the invisible relationship between vegetation and air. FLORA is the name of the Roman goddess of flowers and abundance, and it also refers to the whole plants of a particular region. This is a custom-made work prepared for the opening party of “amu,” the creative space of AZ Holdings, inc. Vegetation is one of the motifs used to symbolize amu and the AZ group. Just as flowers and grasses grow, and trees take roots, to form forests teeming with diverse life, the AZ group will grow as an ecosystem rich in diversity, creating organic communication with customers and people involved with us. The design is the result of an impromptu overnight experiment, in which flowers were integrated with real-time video. Specifically, a beautiful flower arrangement coordinated by Kusakanmuri, the AZ group flower shop established as an annex to amu, was marvelously combined with a set of fluid dynamics software, which was developed by Akira Wakita over a two years’ period. Three beautiful flower arrangement silhouettes were inputted into simulation software that conducts high-speed calculation of a fluid thermal flow field. This enabled the visualization of the airflow around flower arrangement as realtime images into a large display set in the background. This curious combination of the familiar product of nature, vegetation, and the high-level technology of computational fluid dynamics represents the magnificent aerodynamics of the plant form. It also allows the viewer to experience the life, aroma, and aura of plants integrally using all five senses.             The cross-sectional shape of the airplane’s wing is called an airfoil. This animation of the hovering hummingbird was expressed using the basic theorem of voluntary movement of the animals. Now we understand how construction of the natural airfoil by this theorem with trajectory of the organic curve. It is good design for airplane wing, sailboat wing-mast and sail, and paraglider. In this way, many organic curves are able to get by changing a parameters in this theorem.               We recently created a cg droplet for the launch of Carbon 3D's revolutionary 3D printer with our friends at Cinco Design, and got inspired! What was initially a 150 frame shot, humbly named shot 03, became 200 frames 'cause we wanted to give it life & destiny. Every version review had us wanting more! So when all was said & done, we created 750 glorious frames and named it Genesis. Because.... because we could! Enjoy (we still want more.... maybe someday...)! RealFlow sims, Maxwell render. No comp'ing yet. 'Someday' we'll add atmospherics & lens flares : ))))

                Fraqment Films reached out to Fusion's fluids expertise to create a gorgeous, flouncy 'water dress' for a BWT Perlwasser TVC. Their client's reference was the iconic Mattoni water dress, but of course, on an aggressive time schedule and modest budget. Fusion created the natural, organic fluid sims while Fraqment provided art-direction, modeling, match-moving, lighting and compositing. Fusion's extensive expertise and advanced technologies helped immensely in delivering these sims on sched & budget. Fusion adapted its BetterWetter technology to emit water smoothly and naturally from different components of the dress, adding custom forces to control how the cg cloth dress impacted water's movements. Forces also controlled the evolution of gravity, air drag, and dissipation during the life of the water. This allowed Fraqment Films to art-direct the movement of the water in great detail. For example, to achieve a billowy, splashy behavior from the lower part of the dress, and simultaneously a calm behavior and tight fit from the upper part of the dress, Fusion's team broke the dress up into 7 separate simulations. Fraqment then had as much art-direction capability and look-control as possible. Fusion's BetterWetter technology has been used on many projects in various forms of customization, from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to Once Upon A Time. There always seems to be something in our projects that needs to be wet! Thanks to Fraqment Films for the incredible, collaborative teamwork and their excellent work (art-direction, modeling, match-moving, lighting and compositing) on the project!

                      Simulation of a saccadic movement using 1.5mm as filament length. In the video are shown the pressure field and the velocity of the plate at which the filaments are clamped. In order to simulate the traction the vitreous humor exerts on the retina a fictitious spring has been added between the two filaments. It is clear how the pressure influences the filaments behavior during the whole experiment. The pressure values lead to higher traction forces, exerted by the filaments on the plate, in respect to a retinal tear ( approximated with one filament ).
