This scene, "Festival Folks," was in the first rough cut of my documentary, Troubadour Blues. At that stage the film was getting much too long, and I felt that this scene was a detour from the stories of my featured artists and their lives on the road. It covers the world of folk festivals -- a documentary in its own right, and one that I hope to make someday. It features many friends: Dave Devine, Richard Thorne, Carrie Elkin, Nancy Apple, Slaid Cleaves, Garrison Starr, Peter Case and the great Sam Baker.

I scouted around the hotels in Kansas City looking for performers for the two concerts. We ended up making $1,036.83 for the FA Scholarship Fund. Thank you all who performed and all you who in a "pay whatever you want" system showed how generous the folk community can be.
