      • The Sandman

        from Diego Contreras Added 27.5K 907 102

‘The Sandman’ is a short film featuring the Trona, California High School Football team as they train and go through Hell Week in preparation for the upcoming Fall 2015 season. Directed by Diego Contreras. Created for the www.filmsaboutnumbers.com series | No. 7 Inspired by the biblical story of Jericho, where the Israelites marched and shouted around the fortified wall of an impenetrable city for 7 days, and 7 times on the 7th day. As the army shouted, the walls collapsed, and they took over the city. The film presents the Trona team doing their powerful chants 7 times as they prepare to go to battle against teams much larger than their own. I met these kids by happenstance while scouting for a different project down in Trona. It's been an honor getting to know and hang out with them and the beautiful people of Trona. I've been heavily inspired by the coach and his team's passion, faith, and brotherhood. I hope this film can inspire others as much as they inspired me. --- Director: Diego Contreras Producer: Jens Jacob Co-Producer: Scott Davis Director of Photography: Daniel Stewart Editor / Color Grade: Diego Contreras Sound Design & Mix: Diego Contreras Production Manager: Cara Venter Gaffer: Keitaro Cloward Location Audio Mixer: Mathew Williams Production Company: Sypher Films Director Representation: Bullitt Featuring The Trona Sandman: Coach Curtis Boutte Asst. This short form, experimental documentary hovers along the East River, at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn, where hundreds of spectators flocked to absorb the electrifying amusements of an approaching super-storm. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT When I set out to film my neighborhood in Williamsburg, Brooklyn the night of the hurricane, I did not anticipate the footage I was about to film. My main objective was to make a short film of whatever I captured that night. But after the explosion, things quickly changed. I now possess a historic piece of footage that shows New York City humbled by the forces of Mother Nature. The same force of nature that many other countries in the world succumb to each year. This film is an emotional response of what it actually felt like to be out in hurricane Sandy, amidst all of her immense energy, while she devastated and consumed parts of ours.

The foot is usually one of the areas of the body that doesn't get much attention. Stick a reverse foot rig onto everything and the foot stays rigid with a bunch of sliders in the channel editor. Well not any more. This foot rig is simple to animate but has a lot of power in its couple of controls. For more information visit www.robotsquids.blogspot.com
