The 2012 Summer School included lots of free courses held across Cardiff Met, across each of the university's academic schools. The courses were tasters of the different subjects that can be studied here, and are a great way to learn more about a particular study area. The Summer School is designed with the needs of adult learners at its fore. Many people enjoyed the experience and either enrolled on a further course with the university, or used the experience to develop their own understanding and knowledge of the subject. 2012 has been a hell of a year for me! To sum it up as I welcome 2013, I thought I'd take a look back at some of my favorite images and timelapse clips, all shot in 2012. From Australia to Alaska to Lightning in a Bottle, to Burning Man, Lana`i, the Big Island of Hawai`i, Death Valley, and all points in between - this retrospective contains images from some of the most beautiful places and events I've ever visited or been to. I was fortunate to find time to travel all over the world in 2012 despite holding down a full-time job in Tahoe. On that note, 2013 is going to be interesting year for me as I close the most recent chapter of my professional career, and move on from my job to free up all my time to focus on photography and timelapse. I am grateful to all my friends and family for the support in 2012 and years past, in no way can I hope to succeed or to even have gotten to where I am now without you. For music, I picked one of my favorite tracks produced last year, the Dusky remix of Justin Martin's epic song "Don't Go," which I feel is perfect for this retrospective. The last still image in the slideshow is Justin himself rocking the Woogie Stage at Lighting in a Bottle with J Phlip. Please support Justin and Dirtybird, check them out on Beatport: beatport.com/label/dirtybird dirtybirdrecords.com See you again in a year!

FIELDSHIFT | FURTHER is a new interdisciplinary performance company that creates original site-specific works at locations where ecological and human rights trauma has taken place. Led by Artistic Directors Quintan Ana Wikswo and Alexandra Shilling, FIELDSHIFT | FURTHER activates an integrated team of visual artists, writers, composers, dancers and filmmakers. The artists come together in a creative convergence with communities - engaging original poetry, visual art, movement, music, film, and performance to illuminate and explore the aftermath and consequence of crimes against nature and ecology. The resulting works are voyages between artists and audiences that enhance the capacity for communities and individuals to contemplate, perceive and address the matrix of time, place, and trauma. www,FieldShiftFurther.com Video Credits: Video by Eric Grush, Meena Murugesan, Quintan Ana Wikso Visual Text and Images by Quintan Ana Wikswo Choreography by Alexandra Shilling Brought to life by Ian Isles, Carol MacDowell, Briana Masson, Alexandra Shilling, Mimi Yin and Sarah Young
