Rejuvenation... Peace... Tranquility.... Family... Love... Life... Health... The ability to escape from the noise... I came... I saw I learned, I grew... It's funny how life and the universe work. You wait for something to happen to the point that you count down the days. Looking out the window of the airplane it still felt unreal. Two weeks of adventure on the island of Oahu. I was able to spend time with my grandmother as I learned more about my families history, her life, and family traditions. I hiked Diamond and Koko Head, checked off most but definitely not all of my to do in Hawaii list, was able to relax and even parasail. I saw two friends get married, spent time with others and even attended a Luau at the Polynesian Culture Center What excited me most about this trip was that I would finally have the time to adventure and relax with my amazing and beautiful girlfriend. Enjoy, AmbassadorNique

In July, I took a road trip southwest into Kentucky with my brother Adam. My other brother Ian came along for the first three days, enough to see some of Southwestern Virginia. In seeing parts of our home state we had never seen, we reflected on our respective futures and what our career paths might be like. Places pictured in the video, in order of appearance: Roanoke, VA The Channels Natural Area Preserve, VA Breaks Interstate Park, KY/VA Elkhorn City, KY Natural Tunnel SP, VA Thanks to Ian & Adam for putting up with the camera. forwarddownward.wordpress.com

                • Recollections: An exploration into visual storytelling using memory as narrative

A video demo of a parallax scrolling site I designed and developed as one of the last stages in my MFA thesis. The video captures a user-controlled pacing of delving into a visual language (and narrative) first explored in print; parallax scrolling aims to mimic the experience and engagement a viewer encounters with its large, long, printed form. The video was presented during the 2014 CCA MFA Design Exhibition, held in May 2014. The video demo also includes sound bytes from RadioLab's podcast, "Memory and Forgetting", as well as exported sound clips from videos I had filmed during my trip to Tokyo in 2012. The thesis used experiential memory as the content and driving force for visual exploration; all imagery is from photographs and instagrams I took during a trip to South Korea and Tokyo (2012). This is one of three narratives (crowds, getting lost, and mementos).
