    Highlights from the collection of the Brücke Museum in Berlin. The exhibition, which was held in the Ploeg Pavilion, displayed 150 works, including paintings, drawings, prints and figures by the Brücke members Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Erich Heckel, Karl Schmidt- Rottluff, Fritz Bleyl, Max Pechstein, Emil Nolde, Cuno Amiet and Otto Mueller.       The Groninger Museum presented this major solo exhibition of the work of Bernhard Willhelm and Jutta Kraus (both, 1972) on the occasion of their tenth working anniversary. In the course of these ten years, Willhelm and Kraus have realized more than 30 collections. The exhibition will offer an extensive selection from these, with both men’s and women’s wear. The exhibition closed at 11 April 2010. Het Groninger Museum presenteerde een grote solo tentoonstelling van Bernhard Willhelm en Jutta Kraus (beiden, 1972) ter gelegenheid van hun tienjarige jubileum. In de loop van tien jaar, realiseerden Willhelm en Kraus meer dan 30 collecties. De tentoonstelling zal daarvan een uitgebreide selectie bieden met zowel de mannen- als vrouwenlijn.         'Russia's Unknown Orient' tells the story of Russia's (art-)historical bond with its southern neighbours: Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia and the Crimean peninsula. It was a bond that was characterized by a fascination for oriental traditions. The word 'Orientalism' has been in use since the beginning of the nineteenth century. It was a genre in painting which focused on themes such as the Middle East and North Africa. Oriëntalistische schilderkunst 1850-1920' vertelt het verhaal van de (kunst)historische band van Rusland met zijn zuiderburen: Oezbekistan, Georgië, Armenië en de Krim. Een band die werd gekenmerkt door fascinatie voor de oriëntaalse tradities. Het woord oriëntalisme wordt al sinds het begin van de negentiende eeuw gebruikt.             The Groninger Museum is build in the water of the Verbindings Canal in Groningen, a town in the northern Netherlands. The new Groninger Museum is not merely a casing for art, it is a work of art in itself. The ultimate design by the Italian Alessandro Mendini and the three guest architects Philippe Starck, Michele de Lucchi, and Coop Himmelb[l]au was completed in 1994. The museum shows modern and contemporary art, fashion and design, as well as historic arts. De prachtige landschappen, portretten en taferelen uit het dagelijkse plattelandsleven tonen zowel overeenkomsten als verschillen tussen de Noordse landen. In de tentoonstelling staat de periode centraal waarin stromingen als het realisme, naturalisme en de meer uiteenlopende stijlen zoals het symbolisme en het opkomende modernisme naast elkaar voorkwamen. De tentoonstelling is te zien tot en met 5 mei 2013. Exhibition of Northern European painting of the 19th and 20th centuries. From 9 December 2012 to 5 May 2013, the Groninger Museum will present the exhibition entitled Nordic Art 1880 - 1920. This exhibition is a tribute to the peoples and cultures of the Nordic countries, and provides an overview of 19th and 20th-century North European painting. The splendid landscapes, portraits and scenes from everyday rural life display both the similarities and the differences between the Nordic countries. The exhibition focuses on the time when movements such as Realism, Naturalism and more divergent styles such as Symbolism and upcoming Modernism existed side by side.

                The Groninger Museum presented a large-scale overview of the developments in art and history in Cuba from 1868 to the present day. The exhibition gave a survey of the multicultural society of Cuba, and had been organized by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Cuba is known world-wide for its music and literature, and simply for being an exceptional country. The many paintings, photos, videos, graphic designs and installations in the exhibition provided a picture of Cuba in a political and historical context.
