Final version cut of recent Icelantic trip celebrating my 50th year. We witnessed the retreating glacial ice at the Katla glacier caused by global warming, and hiked it with crampon's and ice axe. Bathed in the geo-thermal hot springs of the Blue Lagoon during a hail storm. Located the surreal 1973 plane wreckage of a US Navy C-47 SkyTrain at Solheimasandur's black sand beach along the south west coast. Entered a world of wonder through a narrow cave below a waterfall near Sejalandsfoss and had gallons of 120F+ deg. geyser water soak me at Geysir. Filmed principally using GoPro Hero 3 & 4 Black edition, perfect for such a wet enviornment. Also Sony FX1000 & Canon EOS 650D. Music by- Of Monsters and Men 'Dirty Paws' Dedicated to my inspiring and dedicated Geography teacher, Paddy Buckley who opened a world of wonder to me and many others all those years ago.............

-Celebrating my 50th year with a trip to visit the rugged beauty of Iceland. This video was not what I had planned and is more a 'making of' the video of Iceland. We witnessed the retreating glacial ice of the Katla Glacier and hiked it with ice axe and crampons. Bathed in the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon during a snow/ hail storm. Located the surreal 1973 wreck of a US Navy C-47 SkyTrain at Solheimasandur's black sandy beach along the south coast. Entered a world of wonder through a narrow cave below a waterfall near Seljalandsfoss and had gallons of 100+ deg. water soak me filming the eruption of a geyser at Geysir. Shots in and around Reykjavik are in 4K using a GoPro Hero 4 Black. Music by Icelandic Artist Junius Meyvant -'Color Decay' GPS Corrdinates of airplane wreck 63.459523,-19.364618

Most epic journey I have ever experienced. 15 days in Iceland. Notable Info: -2,152 miles put on Ozzie, our rental car. -Crossed the arctic circle line marker on Grimsey, a tiny island off the North coast of Iceland. Also did burpees over it. Population: 90. -Drank a beer made from water from Europe's oldest glacier. -Paid $10 for a cup of black coffee. No refills. -Average cost to fill up our little 4 cylinder Volkswagen hatchback: $130 US Dollars -Never saw night time. -Icelandic hot dogs are better than American hot dogs. -Saw the ORIGINAL Geysir. The global term where geyser came from. -Never paid for water after the 1st day. Just pulled over and filled water bottles up from waterfalls on the side of the road. Drank the cleanest water in the world. -Trip started in disaster when on our 2nd day in Iceland, the morning we were going to start our 3 day Laugavegurinn hike there was a blizzard and our tent broke setting it up in the wind. Trails were closed and emergency busses and choppers had to pick up hikers at the end of the 1st station. -So we headed back to Reykjavik and slept at Geysir in the car and bought a new tent the next morning and had to readjust our plans. -Smiled and laughed the entire time.
