A brief collection of images from a one week liveaboard dive trip through the Galapagos Islands. The diving was spectacular with multiple whale shark sightings on most of our dives at Darwin Island. Wolf Island also had excellent eagle ray encounters and was teeming with galapagos sharks. Topside shots made using a Panasonic Lumix ZS3. Underwater shots created with a Sony HC9 in a Gates Housing utilizing a Fathom Imaging SWP-25 port. Edited in iMovie. Music by 'His Boy Elroy'. Thanks to Carlos Cortijo for the use of additional still images.

There is also the possibility of seeing whales, whale sharks, thousands of dolphins and large schools of hammerheads, sometimes numbering in the hundreds.

I paddled out to a large pod of about 150 dolphins 4 miles offshore of Avalon/Stone Harbor. Exhausted after paddling hard for nearly 8 miles with this fast moving and aggressive pod, I sat down on my board to rest. The pod was about 50 yards further out to sea when a seal surfaced. I stood up and turned my camera on when something caught my eye behind me. I expected to find the seal but instead, it was a 4' hammerhead shark! The shark was extremely curious about my board and frequently came in for a closer look at the paddleboard's fin, a behavior often observed by the dolphins I normally see. She followed me in a non-threatening manner for about 10 minutes before she finally swam off. Filmed 9/4/14 just after sunrise.
