DE VERANDERING BRIEF De Verandering (translated: The Change) is a television program of EO. The program tells the story about people who started believing in God after a live changing experience. In the second season EO wanted to not only focus on these persons but also on their surroundings, like friends and family. How does this affect them? So the question was, how can we incorporate these two aspects into the opening titles. CONCEPT The ball losing it’s outer shell is a metaphor for change. A shedding skin which reveals the new and changed. All the balls surrounding the main one, is a metaphor for the environment (friends and family). Some of the balls feel attracted to the changed ball while other feel repelled by the change. To make the opening titles feel more embedded into the program we set up the project in such a manner that we would pull out of the intro video. Instead of having a hard cut. When we have pulled out, we can already see the next shot blurred in the background. In the end a ball wipes the screen and we seamlessly continue with the background shot. All set up in such a manner that the editors at EO only have to drag and drop the files within After Effects and have to press render. In this way the openings titles are embedded into every episode.

ENECO Eneco is an international sustainable energy company, with operations in the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, France and Belgium. Eneco says an emphatic No to investment in coal and nuclear energy, and is fully committed to electricity and heating from renewable sources such as wind on land and sea, bio, solar, hydro and geothermal energy. BRIEF Eneco wants to inform newly acquired clients about the energy they purchase and what they can expect to happen in the near future because of the supply switch they made. In short: Provide every information a new client needs to know. CONCEPT A personal and informative welcome package travels, to the new client, on wind-energy. We follow the package on it's journey through a sunny Dutch landscape with wind-turbines. When the package arrives it will inform the client with engaging and interactive content. The animation is used on the web and has several seamless interactive moments. 1. When the package flies over the houses we pass a sign with the place name of the client on it. 2. After the package has land on the table, a welcome mat rolls out. The client has to click on the mat to enter the information in the package. 3. When the package is shown closeup in the house, the camera pans over the box and we see the exact product-name the client has purchased. 4. In the middle of the animation there is a seamless transition to interactive in-depth information pages. 5. During the animation the client saves up gift-credits. In the end of the animation the credits will be payed out. The client can choose between three gifts. The package contains print which comes to live in popup-style paper animation. The print of the box is also in tune with the voice over. When the voice over speaks about a certain aspect, this is reflected by relevant information in print on the box's surface. The look and feel of the interactive animation had to be that of Eneco. This was achieved by using photographic style of early morning sunshine in combination with Eneco's own graphic style-elements. For the first part of the animation we used aerial footage and we filmed on location for the street, exterior an interior shots. After 0:32 seconds the interior is completely made in 3D to have maximal freedom in camera movement. A breakdown of the video can be found here: https://vimeo.com/59511074 VLISCO Since 1846 Vlisco has been designing and producing colourful fashion fabrics that form an essential part of the lively West and Central African culture. BRIEF
Create a corporate film for the Vlisco group which gives a taste of the magic of Vlisco and provides enough information for people to understand their vision:
‘Connect and inspire the world through the design of African print’. FOCUS ON INSPIRATION
We believe the target audience is more interested in the inspirational heritage than the exact dates and facts of when and where the ships landed. They want to be inspired. They want to feel the richness and breath of Vlisco. They want to know what Vlisco can mean for them, for their products, for their creativity.
 VLISCO MAGIC
We believe that Vlisco fabrics and fashion light up the surroundings. They give a taste of magic in daily life. Within the corporate movie we wanted to show a glimpse of this magic world Vlisco creates. CONCEPT: MAGICAL MANSION
This is why we set out to create a location filled with ‘inspirational’ places. A place where the inspiration for all Vlisco fabrics are born and where we show their magical appeal. It’s also a place which shows that Vlisco is a company with a rich history and heritage. This world we call the Magical Mansion. STORY STRUCTURE
1 . Inspiration: At the beginning of the film we move towards the mansion, at the centre of a wide countryside filled with objects which have inspired pattern designers at Vlisco. This world symbolizes the inspirational garden for Vlisco. 2 . The history of the Vlisco DNA: The entrance of the magic mansion shows the rich history of Vlisco. In the frames on the wall we can see the historical patterns of the Vlisco family. 3 . Design and tailor: With the stairway we symbolize the design process of patterns and tailoring. The product is elevated to a higher level. Fabrics come to life on the shoulders of women. 4 . Four Brands: On the second floor we find the Vlisco-group brand spaces. Four different models and surroundings represent the different brands and brand values. -1 The room with the swing represents the Vlisco brand a Premium Dutch design that embodies African pride.
-2 The abstract shopping mall environment represents Woodin, the optimism of the modern African lifestyle. -3 The space with the old printing-press represents the ivorian style of the Uniwax brand. -4 The scene with the umbrellas represent GTP brand. Proudly Ghanaian for a joyful life. 5. VG family: In the mirror room the four brands are united, forming the Vlisco family who invites you to create and inspire with Vlisco fabrics. Amstel film asked us to create a leader for their new cinema concept 'We Want Cinema' WWC is a concept which makes it possible to see classic movies back in the cinema again. This is done by giving the audience the opportunity to choose a film from a large library and promote this along their friends. If you have enough support, it will show in the theatre. Together with Interactive Design studio GRRR, Menno Fokma, Soulbase, and Studio Takt we developed a leader which can be used as a commercial as well. Capturing the ease of use of this online platform, and giving it a lively fresh cinematic feel.

Dutch broadcaster BNN asked us to create 3 new Brand Identity spots. This one is the third of three. Our concept was based on their current slogan 'Laat Niet Los' (Don't let go) and the sticker metaphor that they currently use and asked us to keep. We especially wanted to create a dynamic and energetic spot that really showed the character of BNN. Youthful, rebellious and bold. We show the presenters running and launching themselves towards there goals. Once they hit them, they turn into a sticker and won't let go. The concept of the spots was a collaborative effort from our Utrecht collective of motion designers: Artibite, Menno Fokma, Heerko Groefsema, Soulbase & WOUW! MoreYellow studio asked us (Artibite, Menno Fokma and me) to create a online teaser animation for the Midway Arcade iphone game. These are classic Midway arcade games like Spy Hunter, Rampage, Joust, Root Beer Tapper, Defender, Arch Rivals, Air Hockey, Arcade Basketball, Pool and Roll Ball. We wanted the teaser not just to be an intro plus an edit of in game footage. We wanted to connect all the games in an arcade world. In the intro we see a Midway coin being inserted in an arcade machine, firing up the game. We follow the coin into the digital world. The coin gets digitized on entry and a totem consisting out of arcade machines starts to grow. We skip from game to game by traveling to the next arcade machine in the totem. This way we had a ‘real’ transition between different kinds of footage.

My part in the 2012 FITC titles were the scenes with the low poly brain forming and mutating. For complete credits check out the info below. We started with the theme of personality in social media at first. After narrowing it down and let it match with FITC we took it into the direction of the creation process. We wanted the viewer to be sucked into the mind of a creative. Show his roller coaster of emotions in his process. We contacted creative writer Tifene Huchet to write the story. She shaped Sam, a man that dreamed about discovering the universe since he was a little boy and is driven by it till this day. After creating a moving storyboard and treatment a lot of people became enthusiastic and joined us to fight the deadline (2 1/2 weeks from there on). With guys working from Sweden & Los Angeles, Skype was a real invention! We divided scenes, so everybody could do his own bit. With rendering and compositing done at our studio we could match the final look and created it as a whole. We aimed on creating a film noir look with its typical lighting and be very subtle with adding color. Studio Takt did an amazing job (again!). He finished it in only 4 days. We're surprised how he achieved to glue all scenes together smoothly. Thank you guys, we think it was a labour of love! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Direction & Design: Floris Vos (Soulbase) & Menno Fokma Creative Writer: Tifene Huchet Music & Sounddesign: Joris Van Grunsven (Studio Takt) Narrator: Terry Mann / Boy: Mick Lefevre Animators/Designers: Fredrik Ekholm / Heerko Groefsema / Kevin Megens / Sander Van Dijk / Ton Mikkers / Wouter Kroese / Marius Denisse / Johannes Matsson
