The Dallas Public Library System is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony this Saturday at 10 a.m. for the new Highland Hills replacement Branch Library to be located at 6200 Bonnie View Road. Jo Giudice, Director of Libraries, says this new branch replaces the current facility on Simpson Stuart Road, built in 1979. The city’s 28th branch library will be designed to achieve Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification, with energy efficient lighting, air conditioning, and water-wise landscaping. Other features will include 24 public computers, WiFi access, self-checkout stations, an expanded auditorium and classrooms with state of the art audio visual equipment for community activities.+ More details
The SAISD Foundation raises funds to invest in the great ideas of teachers and educators in San Antonio ISD (SAISD) and replicate the programs that demonstrate success. This video highlights the Strings program the SAISD Foundation supported at Highland Hills Elementary. Through the support of private funders and our own District employees, along with the Strings Program, the Foundation has supported new drumming programs as well as instruments, recording equipment and additional tools to support music and fine arts programs at the elementary, middle school, and high school level. .
