An animation for our final review presentation / Made by Hillary Archer, Timothy Wei, and Emily Wettstein Harvard GSD 1211 Landscape Architecture III: 3rd Semester Core Studio Fall 2013 with Kelly Doran OPERATION REMEDIUM aims to catalyze and stabilize circuits of ecological decontamination and human occupation. It is centered on a series of plume-treating mulch biowalls injected into the subsurface, which are the product of interrelated forest thinning and woodchip mulching processes. Through mulch, circulation and occupation are redesigned to marry moments of civilian and military life. Through mulch, the forest is transformed and opened for further use. Operation Remedium is about the remediation of the Cape’s contaminated groundwater, the symbiotic creation of a joint military and civilian mulch industry, and the encouragement of life with and within the forest. Contemporary dance and experimental cinema are always site specific. Filming dancers in the landscape brings the theater outside, making the stage a realm of multi-dimensionality. Here, industrial salt piles were scouted as unique and dramatic urban mountains to explore choreographically. As a freshly-piled landscape, each cone shares the same slope. The temporality of salt-as-material is embraced, for it is an expression of the power of movement upon a landscape. It is a canvas where, through dance, a new space is made. Created for Harvard Graduate School of Design Landscape Representation III: Landform and Ecological Process with Andrea Hansen Ballet clips found on youtube. Landform created with Grasshopper and Rhino.
