It took me 6 months of on and off shooting to finish this project. Shooting time lapses is a labor of love and a study in patience. This video is dedicated to the memory of my Grandmother.

Follow me on instagram: @javin_lau instagram.com/javin_lau Hong Kong is Home. I remember when I first arrived in Hong Kong almost a decade ago, I felt like I had walked into an actual movie set. It was a place that I had only seen on TV as a kid, with its strange red taxi’s, odd stop lights and driving on the other side of the road. My intent with this project was to illustrate the grandeur of Hong Kong that most people would never get to see. When I had recently watched the movie Oblivion, it had somehow starkly reminded me of Hong Kong, with the feeling of being so insignificantly small -- almost irrelevant to my surroundings. Hong Kong is an unbelievably dense city, where much of the world can be accessed at your fingertips. But in a city where you can access the material world in a matter of seconds, it also has the ability to isolate you from the 8 million people around you as well. With this piece, I hope that you are able to engage in this contradiction. --- Track: M83 - Waking Up Inspiration: Oblivion Movie --- Connect http://www.javinlau.com http://javinlau.tumblr.com http://www.facebook.com/javinlauphotography --- Licensing For licensing information, please visit: http://www.javinlau.com/about-me --- Special Thanks Andrew Tso, for a good time in Hong Kong, and makes cameo at 1:53. http://www.tsotography.com Tom Ryaboi, for the technical editing expertise. http://www.tomryaboi.com --- Technical Details Camera: Canon 7D, Canon T2I Lenses: Sigma 8-16mm, Samyang 8mm, Sigma 30mm, Canon 50mm

A little story about love & adventure. This project is not the best technical achievement for sure but I´m pretty happy with the final result. I realized that true inspiration comes from great experiences whether are good or not and great experiences are a consequence from things we love. There is a whole universe for you to be discovered and explored. Beautiful music from one of the best and most eclectic 2003 albums "Neveroddoreven" by one of my all time favourites: "I monster" get this album here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/neveroddoreven/id250400094 http://www.amazon.com/Neveroddoreven-I-Monster/dp/B000293NI0 This project was done during early 2013 for a school iniciative, this wasn´t or isn´t intended to be commercialized in anyway. The story behing this film is a stupid Ichat conversation with my buddy Thomas Bertrand. The result is 2 tickets to Tokyo, a script in my pocket, ten days to find comedians and shoot it without any money. I'm really happy by the experience and will surely do it again ! Last month, my wife and I had the joy and privilege of exploring a portion of the Scottish Highlands. Little did we know what we would find, or how much we would fall in love with her. This video, as a result, is our simple thank you to the memories she gave us and this lesson she taught me: "Life is short. Enjoy it. Go have fun. Go somewhere that makes you nervous. Do something stupid for a change. Do something you said you wanted to do. Build memories. Build relationships. Build some kids. Then build some Legos. Build a life with your love and never let her go. Just go, and be." Video by Simona Piantieri Sound and Music by Jo Hutton Video lenght: 03:10 Shot with Canon 5D MarkII Synopsis: You followed me to Dungeness and stayed with me as I trudged along the shingle. You were right there as I picked my way through the rotting debris of a long gone fishing industry, its huts, nets, chains and anchors, skeletons of boats, a rusty iron winch for pulling the boats in across the shingle, bringing back childhood memories. You came with me down to the edge of the sea, and there you left me finally, hitching a ride on the sea breeze, a free spirit as you always were in life.

                      from PARACHUTES Added 82.1K 1,884 79

Graduation project. There are as many nostalgias as there are times, countries, nationalities, traditions, beings. In order to capture the plurality of the definition, the chosen role for this purpose is that of a documentarist, an interpreter, an aesthetic observant. The film is a visual experimentation exploring these different definitions by putting together different audio and visual testimonies. Going backwards, forwards, the mind recreate a new time ; not a new house nor a lost city, but a new present. By Nicolas Lefaucheux www.parachutes.tv/
