SUBURBAN is a multi-faceted photography, film and installation exhibition created by artist Ian Strange. Over a two-year period Strange worked with a film crew and volunteers in Ohio, Detroit, Alabama, New Jersey, New York and New Hampshire to create, photograph and film eight site-specific interventions incorporating suburban homes. The recording of these interventions through film and photographic documentation forms the basis of a new solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria on July 26 and a short-film which will be released in late 2013. www.IanStrange.com http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/whats-on/exhibitions/exhibitions/ian-strange 27 JUL 2013 – 15 SEP, 2013 The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia at Federation Square NGV Studio, Ground Level Video Credits: Produced by Amelia Phillips Music composed by Marc Philip Earley Interview shot and sound record by Daniel Gallagher Grade and additional editing by Dominic Pearce BTS footage shot by Chris Hersey, Miriam Bennet, Jessie Sara English, Jedda Andrews, Dan Gutt and Ian Strange Shot in Ohio, Detroit, New York, New Hampshire and New Jersey, 2011-2013 Selected photographic work from 'SUBURBAN'; 'Harvard Road' Ian Strange 2012 archival digital print Collection of the artist, New York © Ian Strange Selected footage from 'SUBURBAN' - Multi-Channel video loop and short-film; Artist / Director: Ian Strange Produced by Jedda Andrews, Neena Litton Co-Produced by Jessie Sara English Director of Photography: A. On Sunday, November 17th, 2013, an EF4 tornado touched down in Washington, Illinois, destroying as many as 400 homes. Leaving Monday night from Indiana, I arrived in Washington around 4am Tuesday morning. As the sun rose, I began seeing the debris left in the tornadoes wake. After sunrise, I was able to enter the town to see some of the damage. Because of safety concerns, the curfew for the city was from 6pm until 7am. I stayed in town for two days shooting video and timelapse. At the end of the second day, I felt that I was starting to intrude by filming, and decided I had what I could get. Motion Control was achieved using the Kessler Crane Cineslider paired with CineDrive. https://www.kesslercrane.com/ Music, Used with Permission The American Dollar - Anything You Synthesize Available for Purchase on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/a-memory-stream/id279279307 Website www.EricHinesPhotography.com Twitter Twitter.com/EricHinesPhotos Facebook Facebook.com/EricHinesPhotography EHinesNWI@Gmail.com

Shanghai is a fantastic city undergoing an incredible change. The city's impressive growth, however, does not come without consequences. To make room for the already abundant high-rises, many old areas are being knocked down. This short film highlights the disappearance of a small historical quarter (小南门 - Xiǎo nán mén) in Shanghai, and the impact this has on its community.
