This team pulls no punches and delivers a video that speaks to all hard-working sportsmen who understand how precious their time in the woods really is. This video is more than just the successful archery and firearm hunts, it’s the whole story, the real deal, the memories made in the REAL woods.

COLLOQUE: « LA PHILOSOPHIE FACE À SES AUTRES » Organisé par Martin FORTIER & Raphaël MILLIÈRE, avec le soutien du PhilMaster. (Site référent : http://www.atmoc.fr/ ; ensemble du programme et des enregistrements : http://cmsgens.wordpress.com/programme/) « Debate : Anthropology comes to life. » avec Tim INGOLD (University of Aberdeen) et Frédéric KECK (CNRS, LAS) Anthropology is a sustained and disciplined inquiry into the conditions and potentials of human life. Yet generations of theorists, throughout the history of the discipline, have been at pains to expunge life from their accounts, or to treat it as merely consequential, the derivative and fragmentary output of patterns, codes, structures or systems variously defined as genetic or cultural, natural or social. Born of nature, moulded by society, impelled by the promptings of genetic predisposition and guided by the precepts of transmitted culture, human beings are portrayed as creatures whose lives are expended in the fulfilment of capacities bestowed at the outset. Beginning, as Clifford Geertz famously put it, “with the natural equipment to live a thousand kinds of life”, each of us is supposed to “end in the end having lived only one”. Life, in this view, is a movement towards terminal closure: a gradual filling up of capacities and shutting down of possibilities. An interesting ambition would be to reverse this emphasis: to replace the end-directed or teleonomic conception of the life-process with a recognition of life’s capacity continually to overtake the destinations that are thrown up in its course. It is of the essence of life that it does not begin here or end there, or connect a point of origin with a final destination, but rather that it keeps on going, finding a way through the myriad of things that form, persist and break up in its currents. Life, in short, is a movement of opening, not of closure. As such, it should lie at the very heart of anthropological concern.

Following the popularity of our Pinnacle Big Boar comp Special last year we've decided to do it again, this time with a bit of a difference. This time around we're featuring 3 different piggin comps from different locations around Australia. We kick things off in Cooktown where Mark catches up with a couple of the locals, Ashley McIvor and Darcy Angus. Taking advantage of the years of local knowledge they'd built up they set off to hunt for the Cooktown Hog Hunt of 2012. Next we trade the heat of the tropics for the the floodplains of the Northern Territory where Mark teams up with Daniel James to hunt for the 2012 NT Dog-a-Hog day. In a hunt that lasts less than 12 hours they catch more big boars than many will catch in a lifetime. Featuring dog cam and head cam footage that gets you up close and personal, this is another hunt with Daniel that will leave you shaking your head in dis-belief. For the grand finale Brendan heads back to Mackay for the 2013 Pinnacle Big Boar comp. Last year he was fortunate, and flukey enough, to film with the winning team as Chester Brodie caught the biggest boar. This year to change things up he's teamed up with well known hunter Trace Cronin and his mate Johnno Fuller to hit the crop and river country of central QLD. Could we manage top capture the winning boar on film again? With 496 registered entrants this year, the odds would say no, but you'll have to wait until the weigh in to find out. With a close look at the day of the comp you'll get to see exactly why the Pinnacle Big Boar comp sets the standard for organisation, turn out and quality of pigs weighed in. Don't miss it, the Pighunting DVD Australia Competition Special will be one of those films you'll always wish you'd got if you don't get it now.

Some mythical mountains helped build the reputation of the villages and valleys, in their neighborhood, most of the time through a long human and sporting history, written by men strongly willing to reach their summits. These myths, since then, ensure the growth and prosperity of these villages, that became ski resorts. Most of them arouse from the 19th century, sometimes even before. But there is an exception in the restricted list of mythical mountains; a mountain whose legend was built much more recently, much quicker. And that legend is not due to the bravery of men who attempted the ascent. No, the summit, unlike its peers, can be reached without any major obstacle. What has contributed to its lightning reputation is linked to the exploits of a few men and women, not in the ascent, but the descent, of its breathtaking steep face. The advent of freeride revealed its impressive north face, at the heart of the Swiss Wallis. Today, it is renowned as one of the most dreaded in the world. Within only a few years, its name has gone around the planet: The Bec des Rosses. Extreme skiing revealed the Bec des Rosses beyond the borders of Switzerland. It now also gives the opportunity to discover others aspects of its history. Through testimonies of the elderly of the valley as well as mountain guides, among many others, this film traces the advent of a unique mountain to passionate people around the world, and uncovers unexpected events of its history.

This exciting issue features - Swamp Hogs. NT. Aaron James The James boys, Jarrod and Daniel, have featured on more than a few of our films, but there's one thing we've never told you. There's actually a 3rd brother, Aaron, and he's the keenest of the lot! Mark catches up with him and a few of his dogs and his mate Tony to wander around some NT swamps looking for NT hogs. Goondiwindi crop running, NSW QLD border. David Wild After being told by a number of hunters that we should do a segment on David Wild. We made contact, booked flights, all we needed was for the weather to co-operate. With the crops cut and dogs plated we head out to the stubble under the spotlight. As soon as the lights on, the pigs appear and we get an idea of how much damage must be being done to crops night, after night, after night. Back to Basics. Far North Queensland. Cameron and Marcus McMahon In this short sharp sequence we strip hunting back almost to it's most basic elements. Dogs and a spear. There's not a lot of talking in between, but the action more than makes up for that. It's an adrenalin rush on a stick. Behind the scenes. NT. Daniel and Jarrod James Although we had our cameras, this was more a break from filming than a hunting trip. But being a break, what else would you do but go hunting and fishing? Hooking up with the James Boys we hit the road, dropped the anchor and laughed a lot. We just happened to be doing it amongst some of the best hunting and fishing country around.
