Coconuts, beaches and Malibu! What’s not to love for a pirate? We’re very happy that Forsman & Bodenfors got in touch with us to help them create beautiful, appetising bottles and drinks for their latest Malibu campaign. The plan was to shoot one packshot on location and do the rest in CG. We built an entire line of Malibu products, textured, shaded and lovingly lit, to match the conditions of the live action beach shoot. We then built a series of mouthwatering drinks and garnishes to accompany the bottles. Yum!

Not only was Discovery Channel's Shark Week, first broadcast on July 17, 1987, it’s also the longest-running cable television programming event in history. When MoceanLa asked us to collaborate with them on this promo, we were thrilled! We loved the concept from the start and understood that it would pose very unique challenges for our simulation team. Not only did we have large amounts of creatures breaching water, interacting, creating wakes and splashes. We also needed to have the creatures jumping out of the water and speed ramp as they did! This taught us a lot about the intricacies and complexities of fluids and white water simulation (and added a few grey hairs as well). In addition to all the simulation work, we rigged, animated and look developed the entire scene. The shark rider and mermaid were shot on set and composited into the shot.

After their success with the UD Trucks Lightrunner campaign, our friends at Obscura Digital came back to us with a request to enhance and expand the experience, in time for the prestigious Tokyo Motor Show 2013! Obscura wanted to illustrate the history and evolution of UD Trucks, and set it in a realistic Japanese rural environment. This presented a unique set of challenges. We needed to build a series of photo realistic trucks based on very limited source material as well as create convincing representations of the type of environments that a UD Truck would have travelled through. We’re very happy with the end result, and it turned out to be a huge success at this years Tokyo Motor Show!

FOX Sports Australia approached us with the mission to create an opener for the Australian National Rugby League, NRL. The spot mixes full CG shots with live action tied together with a seamless camera move. We started off by creating concepts for the different environments where we designed all the rooms, including a memorabilia room, a locker room, as well as a massive end shot. The whole spot has one seamless camera move. We carefully planned how we were going to shoot the live action, so that it would blend smoothly together with the full CG shots, and relied heavily on our animatic on set. The live action was shot at the Allianz stadium in Sydney, Australia. We then replaced the environment with a digital stadium, including crowd simulations, flags and fire! The grand finale is a full CG shot of 16 NRL stadiums framed by a big city and fireworks! A lot of work was put into look development and designing all the stadiums, houses, streets, cars and parks to make this shot come alive!

Check out our water vfx in this new spot for the Swedish armed forces! This was a really fun and challenging project. We had two complex shots in this spot. First shot was creating a digital water that bursts out of a door to fill an office. We did the simulation work in Houdini, and use Vray and our proprietary particle/volumetric renderer Tempest to render the final images. The shot was composited in Deep exr in order to be able to mix and match the outputs from different render engines. The second shot was when the room was filling up and the office workers struggles to swim for the surface. The office was shot on location, and the actors and the props was shot against greenscreen in one of the pools where the Swedish navy's frogmen exercise. We created digital water surface, particles, caustics and did some extensive deep compositing to tie it all together.
