    Fulbright-mtvU Program Alumni, Garrett Rubin and Sara Skolnick share their grant year experiences and provide tips for developing a successful application. Rubin completed his Fulbright-mtvU grant year in Jordan creating an organization focused on musical workshops for youth development in Syrian-refugee children in Jordan. Skolnick spent her year in Bogata, Colombia teaching youth about digital music production to improve their perceptions about accessibility to the global music scene. U.S. Department of State Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, along with mtvU and Institute of International Education (IIE) staff, also provide an overview of the Fulbright-mtvU award -- intended to offer grantees the opportunity to study contemporary and popular music as a vehicle for cultural change. The Fulbright Program's only off-cycle grant application period for our U.S. Student Program, the Fulbright-mtvU award deadline for the 2015-16 grant year is February 27, 2015.                 Transcultures, Interdisciplinary Center for Sound and Electronic Cultures is an association born in 1996 in order to promote and develop crossings between contemporary artistic practices and arts/society/technology stakes; focusing in particular on sound art and digital creation. Since 2008, Transcultures is settled in Mons (Belgium) and through its new interdisciplinary center, is working on production, mediation and reflection regarding electronic and sound projects. Since 2003, Transcultures has launched in collaboration with the City of Mons, City Sonic, international sound art festival (sound circuit of site specific installations and performances in various locations of the city of Mons). The City Sonic productions travel all around the world. Since 2005, another festival Les Transnumériques was born dedicated to the digital arts and cultures (in Mons, Brussels, Liège and other cities in France). For the occasion, members of ATD Fourth World Netherlands recalled the international encounters they have participated in - in Rome, Brussels, Herblay, or Pierrelaye. Dirk van Heerwaarde, Gerard de Jong, Toon en Lenn van Valkenburg, Ton van de Bruêle et Marion Braad, all of them engaged in the fight against injustice and poverty, share stories of emotional encounters, shared difficulties, and new connections forged during these international meetings.
