Very pleased to present 'The Persian Version'. Enjoy a journey from Iran to Turkey via the usual land transportation in our continuous trek zigzagging around the Eurasian peninsula. A visual poem of my Izmir - Ankara - Tehran trip with Trans-Asia Express in April 2013. Just 550D and Tamron 17-50mm accompanied me. All handheld. 2 Weeks. More than 5000km, and lots of friends :) Shot and edited by me. (http://aykutalpersoy.com) Music: Gustavo Santaolalla - The Journey The quote in the begining is an excerpt from Fernando Pessoa's poem: To Travel "To travel! Leave countries behind Be someone else indefinitely, Having a soul without roots, Means living only to see To belong to no one, not even myself Move ahead always, follow The absence of any real end And having the wish to reach it Traveling this way is really traveling. But I do so without needing More than the dream of an opened road. The rest? Just earth and sky?" Love and share :) Follow our shit http://www.facebook.com/hellocolorizmir

Some shots I did in Iran a few years back on "The History of Football" a 13 x 1 hour TV series for Freemantle Media, all shot on DigiBeta unfortunately. Whilst filming the scene of the "large mural of soldiers with traffic in the foreground" a secret police vehicle spotted us and we were arrested. We were interrogated and held for six hours while they made their checks to make sure we weren't spies. Despite the unpleasant experience it didn't change my feelings for the country and its people, some of the friendliest and hospitable on this planet.
