1. Will the EU be the death of democracy?

    from worldwrite Added 35 0 0

This timely, highly informative debate asks whether democracy and sovereignty can mean anything in the European Union. We learn of the use of the EU by national governments to evade responsibility, the need for a clash of ideas, why banks must be allowed to fail in order to shake things up, the dangers of technocracy replacing democracy and more. An exceptional line up of speakers take us beyond the usual Eurosceptic versus Europhile debate and challenge us to consider what sort of Europe we want, who we are and what democracy means. The speakers are Brian M. Carney, editor of The Wall Street Journal Europe’s editorial page; Brian Denny, convenor, No2EU:Yes to Democracy; Declan Ganley, founder and chairman, Libertas; Brendan O'Neill, editor, spiked; Linda Yueh, Economics Editor Bloomberg TV, Adjunct Professor of Economics at London Business School, Fellow at Oxford. Arranged by the Institute of Ideas, this event took place at Goodenough College as part of the Crisis in Europe debate series, organised by the European Network of Houses for Debate "Time to Talk", with the support of the Open Society Institute. WORLDbytes volunteers are delighted to be filming and editing this series.

Celtic Legacy - a call to the Irish people to save our country. There are no political affiliations here, no union voices, no other broader agenda. The ordinary Irish people are being screwed to the wall for the misdeeds of others. Those politicians we're plagued with do NOT speak for us. They refuse to do anything that would benefit Joe Soap. Don't believe their spin about everything 'being in the national interests'. This is BOLLOCKS! They have their snouts in the trough and are are serving their own needs. We do not figure in their plans, except to be bled dry. Think a change of 'government' will be any better? Regardless of what useless politicians get in, they'll follow the same agenda with a few minor tweaks. They are not part of the solution, they're part of the problem! The Irish people need to reclaim their country. We don't have much time to do this as Ireland is about to be raped and pillaged by the soul-less IMF and EU. Who will pay the price? Not the super rich, banksters or those allegedly in power. You, me and our children will be saddled with this for generations to come. It's time to say NO! If we let this happen, WE will have to answer for it. WE have the power! This is NOT a call for violence! People power will win out through peaceful means. ASK QUESTIONS! DEMAND ANSWERS! -------------------------------------------------------- Please forward this video on to as many people as possible.

Why has it proved so difficult to resolve the problems of Northern Ireland? Will the current arrangements, an outcome of the Belfast or Good Friday agreement of 1998, provide a solution?
