History comes alive as the people of America's past come to life to tell their unique and powerful stories. This series of historical snapshots—each designed to stand alone—targets significant events in history. Each video segment can be used to introduce a unit of study or serve as a review tool. In the Jamestown segment, John Rolfe describes the establishment of the first permanent settlement. He also tells of the original hardships, the relationship with the Indians, the beginnings of success, the arrival of women, and the importation of slaves.

Greg Peterson - "The Robert H. Jackson Center: History, Aspirations, and Future Dreams" Greg Peterson discusses the history of Robert H. Jackson and the Robert H. Jackson Center which advances his legacy. Mr. Peterson is the co-founder of the Robert H. Jackson Center in Jamestown, New York and is a partner in the law firm of Phillips Lytle LLP. He received his Juris Doctor in 1976 from Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in 1973 from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. He is admitted to the US Supreme Court and is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association as well as the local bar associations and currently sits on the boards of many organizations. Housed in the former Alonzo Kent Mansion and Scottish Rite, The Robert H. Jackson Center is showing the world what can be done by a not for profit organization in 21st century America with hard work, ingenuity and help from the political sector. The Jackson’s Center programs for school children and, soon, college undergraduates fill a void in a county ravaged by economic changes of the last years. The Center is located in a completely restored, debt free, home and houses archives, exhibits, a library, and halls for speakers and presentations. Two of Mr. Peterson’s initiatives include a visit to the Center by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg in July 2013 and renaming the Federal Courthouse in Buffalo, New York in September 2013 the Robert H. Jackson Courthouse.
