1. At the Foot of the Ladder

    from Isaac Deitz / Added

"At the Foot of the Ladder" is a short piece I made on the struggle and journey it is to be in a band. I took John F. Kennedy's 17 minute speech on going to the moon, I cut it and reorganized it to match the story of my friends "House of Heroes". Enjoy! I went out for a weekend on the road with the band House of Heroes with a GH2 and decided to give it a try.

This 35mm color archival film reel has never been shown to the public yet. Cameramen of the US Airforce shot the footage about the visit of President John F. Kennedy in Hanau and Wiesbaden, June 25th and 26th 1963. It was the first visit of an American President in Germany after World War II. President Kennedy was welcomed by the German people with abounding enthusiasm. Hundred of thousands lined the streets to welcome the young and charismatic American leader. His visit is one of the profound marks in the collective memory of the post war generation. You can guess that 14 years after the foundation of the democratic state in West Germany the visits marks the shift to identification with the values of freedom and democracy of the young post war generation. Their emotions took those elder Germans who had experienced Nazi government and World War with them. The film of the US Air Force comments the event in the manner of a sober military communique. The extreme of beauty - and its misery. Most people remember Marilyn Monroe as the stereotypical of the dumb blond, addicted to pills or even a drug user, as her behavior and feelings used to vary from one extreme to the other. But she was no dummy nor a drug addicted, far from that. This is my video art tribute to a truly a complex woman and intelectual, poetic, bright, deeply emotional and misunderstood at her best for the most. "I restore myself when I'm alone and the nicest thing for me is sleep, so then at least I can dream." Marylin Monroe

CC: English. Learning how to fly a Cessna over Melbourne, Australia. Flying a small aircraft feels like balancing an egg whilst you're inside it. You must constantly make micro-adjustments to keep level and maintain altitude. I had some creative fun with the soundtrack: mixing Vangelis' "Main Themes" from Blade Runner to a few words from one of the noblest presidential speeches of all time, Kennedy's 1962 Space Exploration address at Rice University. May you also feel inspired to do something out of the ordinary! Shot with a Panasonic GH2; outdoor footage was shot with the firmware hack from Vitaliy Kiselev. Wide shots were made with the Panasonic 7-14mm lens at f4.0. Indoor and close-range shots were made with the Panasonic 20mm at f1.7-f4.0. Shutter at 1/125 and ISO at 160. While serving as chief analyst of military records at the Assassination Records Review Board in the nineties, Douglas Horne examined serious anomalies in the medical evidence in the JFK case. In this film, Horne draws on his book "Inside the ARRB" to present a comprehensive overview of the missing, altered and fraudulent evidence that indicates a cover-up by multiple agencies of the government. Their mission - to hide the true nature of President Kennedy's wounds and purge all trace of a conspiracy.
