Kscope is pleased to announce Falling Deeper, the new, fully orchestral album from Anathema. Falling Deeper continues where the acclaimed 2008 album Hindsight left off. The album features brand new arrangements of songs and haunting melodies from the band’s earliest days as pioneers of heavy music. This is an album which will excite old and new Anathema fans equally. A fresh musical and lyrical approach has transformed songs such as Crestfallen, Kingdom, Sunset Of Age and Everwake, which features the incredible voice of Anneke van Giersbergen. The record has been produced by Daniel Cavanagh and was recorded and mixed by Andrea Wright at the legendary Parr St Studios, Liverpool (where the likes of Elbow, Coldplay and Echo and the Bunnymen have also recorded albums). The orchestral arrangements are from Dave Stewart who worked so successfully with Anathema on We’re Here Because We’re Here. Released in 2010, We’re Here Because We’re Here was awarded Classic Rock’s Prog Album of the Year as well as a host of other accolades. Formed in Liverpool in 1990, the band’s sound and musical vision has continually evolved while always remaining true to the band’s original goal of creating forward-thinking, meaningful, passionate, and honest music. With each release they moved beyond the boundaries of limited scenes and pigeon holes, creating a complex and emotive atmospheric sound. The producer of WHBWH, Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), has described it as “definitely among the best albums I’ve ever had the pleasure to work on.” TRACKLiST: Crestfallen Sleep in Sanity Kingdom They Die Sunset of Age Everwake We The Gods I Made A Promise Alone For more info, downloads and audio samples from Falling Deeper, go to: kscopemusic.com/anathema Buy Anathema albums from: burningshed.com/store/kscope/collection/222/ anathema.ws

Steve Hogarth and Richard Barbieri interviewed for the Kscope podcast (Episode 24) by Billy Reeves at Kscope HQ. Kscope is pleased to announce the release of 'Not The Weapon But The Hand', the debut album from Steve Hogarth and Richard Barbieri. Hogarth is best known as the frontman of Marillion, the progressive rock legends that he joined in 1989, following spells in The Europeans and How We Live. In addition to the 12 studio albums Marillion have released in this time, he has also recorded and toured as a solo artist, under the moniker H. In recent years Richard Barbieri has been a core member of Porcupine Tree playing keyboards on all the band’s albums since 1993 as well as releasing two solo albums, Things Buried and Stranger Inside. Prior to this, it was in the new-wave pioneers Japan that he originally came to prominence, helping to create the groundbreaking synthesiser sound that defined the band and influenced the likes of The human league, Duran Duran, Gary Numan, Talk Talk, Kate bush and a whole raft of other artists, including Hogarth. A few years ago, Porcupine Tree played some shows with Marillion and Steve invited Richard to be part of The h band on his Ice Cream Genius album. This association developed into what hogarth describes as "an easy working relationship which rapidly became an understanding beyond music." It wasn’t surprising then that the duo decided to collaborate on a joint project, a venture they have been working on for the past few years, the results of which can be heard on Not The Weapon But The Hand. "It also goes beyond what you might expect from the two of us... The album consists of music which is at times moving, complex, multi-layered (both instrumentally and vocally) spooky, goofy and of course, very personal to me." Not The Weapon But The Hand was completed in late 2011 and features occasional appearances from Danny Thompson on double bass, Arran Ahmun (John Martyn) and Chris Maitland (ex-Porcupine Tree) on drums and guitar and string arrangement contributions from Dave Gregory (XTC). Grace for Drowning’ is the second album released under Wilson’s own name, and builds on the artistic inroads he forged with 2009’s exceptionally well-received ‘Insurgentes.’ A double album ('two 40-45 minute albums in the same package') Wilson has described it as "my biggest project to date". The Blu-ray edition features music in 5.1 surround sound, 2 bonus tracks, 5 films, 6 demo versions, a gallery and a 16 page book of artwork and notes. He continues, “’Insurgentes’ was an important step for me into something new. This record takes that as a starting point, but it’s more experimental and more eclectic. For me the golden period for music was the late sixties and early seventies, when the album became the primary means of artistic expression, when musicians liberated themselves from the 3 minute pop song format, and started to draw on jazz and classical music especially, combining it with the spirit of psychedelia to create “journeys in sound” I guess you could call them. So without being retro, my album is a kind of homage to that spirit. There’s everything from [Ennio] Morricone-esque film themes to choral music to piano ballads to a 23 minute progressive jazz–inspired piece. I’ve actually used a few jazz musicians this time, which is something I picked up from my work remixing the King Crimson records.” Tracklist (5.1 mixes) Grace for Drowning Sectarian Deform to Form a Star No Part of Me Postcard Raider Prelude Remainder the Black Dog Belle De Jour Index Track One Raider II Like Dust i Have Cleared from My Eye EXTRA CONTENT 2 bonus audio tracks: - Home in Negative - Fluid Tap 6 work in progress demo versions Films for 5 of the album tracks Exclusive photo gallery Photographs of SW’s handwritten lyrics 1 Blu-Ray disc in an Amaray case with 16 page booklet www.gracefordrowning.com Videos by Lasse Hoile www.lassehoile.com

Gazpacho talk us through the March of Ghosts album track by track, from their studio in Oslo. Visit the album site at kscopemusic.com/gazpacho/marchofghosts March of Ghosts is the band's follow-up to Missa Atropos, which was released on Kscope in 2011 along with the live album, London. London was recorded on the band's recent European tour and the success of this tour helped provide the genesis for March of Ghosts, as Jon-Arne explains: 'the previous tour gave us lots of inspiration. So, the week after returning we went straight into the studio to capture whatever came. As a result, the majority of the album was written in a day writing orgy where the band got together and jammed for a full day and night… “March of Ghosts” was surprisingly easy to write.' Such was the success of these early sessions that a lot of the material that can be heard on the final album comes from this original jam session. This material was then honed, dissected and refined throughout the summer and autumn of 2011 to create a coherent whole. While Missa Atropos can be viewed as a concept album, following the story of one person leaving everything behind, Thomas sees March of Ghosts is much more as a collection of short tales; 'The idea was to have the lead character spend a night where all these ghosts (dead and alive) would march past him to tell their stories.' Characters include Haitian war criminals, the crew of the Marie Celeste, a returning American WWI soldier who finds himself in 2012 and the ghost of an English comedy writer who was wrongly accused of treason and who will sit for eternity listening to gramophone recordings of the broadcasts he did on enemy radio. As lead singer Jan-Henrik explains, 'They are short stories. They are a march of ghosts. They are tales that need to be told.' Missa Atropos is the new album from Norway’s Gazpacho on Kscope. ‘A delightfully mellifluous selection. They won’t be Norway’s best kept secret much longer’ JERRY EWING, CLASSIC ROCK PROG The constant drive to pigeon-hole artists often leads to the media creating all manner of new sub-genres to describe acts but few bands can share the ‘classical post-alternative ambient nocturnal atmospheric neo-progressive folk world rock’ label that one journalist gave Gazpacho while struggling to describe the band’s distinctive sound. More orthodox descriptions have suggested similarities to Radiohead, Porcupine Tree, Marillion (and even Aha) but such simplistic comparisons don’t do justice to the true nature of the band’s music. Formed in Oslo in 1996 by childhood friends Jon-Arne Vilbo and Thomas Andersen along with Jan-Henrik Ohme (later joined by Mikael Krømer, Lars Eric Asp and Kristian Torp), the band have honed this unique sound over a string of critically acclaimed albums and numerous tours, including several with long-time supporters Marillion. These albums and tours, and the internet and word-of-mouth praise that have greeted them, have helped the band build a substantial international fan base. All the band’s releases until this point have either been self-released or on Marillion’s Racket Records label but the band have now signed to Kscope who are set to give an international release to the band’s latest album Missa Atropos, which has previously only been available in Germany. The follow-up to 2009’s Tick Tock (Album of the Month, Eclipsed), Missa Atropos is an ambitious concept album. Dealing with themes of death, fear and loneliness, it combines the band’s musical skills and haunting songwriting to create a beautiful and hypnotic piece of art. Darker than the band’s previous two albums, it still features many of the distinctive characteristic’s of a Gazpacho album, with ambient passages, violin and classical music, elements of world music as well as real samples of coded information sent during the cold war on short wave radio.
